To dip his brush in dyes of heaven

I have a really CAS card to share today featuring a lovely chippie from Make It Crafty and one half of a Tim Holtz Crazy Talk sentiment.

I went with rainbow colours on my chippie as that’s the current theme over at AAA Cards, also added in a rainbow assortment of enamel dots to finish off my card.  I echoed the rainbow element in the designer paper I framed my top black panel with, wanted to break up all the black without making the card fussy.  I thought a multi-coloured ‘birthday’ would be too much so I added this in with some white embossing powder.

I let the chippie and stamp do all the work on this card so I could also play along at Inky Chicks where they’re challenging you to use a sentiment instead of an image.  A great way to produce a striking card in a lot less time that with an image.

Over at Watercooler Wednesday Heidi’s set a masculine.  This card is heading out to a male colleague.  I love enamel dots for a great embellie that keeps a card masculine and combined with my monochromatic base and just the splash of rainbow colour I think this is dramatic but still suitably masculine.

Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree

Sharing a CAS Christmas card I’ve made featuring Christmas Ornaments dies from Joy! Crafts and stamps from a pair of Stampin’ Up! sets.

The layout of my card follows the sketch at Christmas Card Throwdown.  I’ve used ornament die cuts for the three star elements and added in some hangers from the Embellished Ornaments set from Stampin’ Up!.

Rather than placing the sentiment on a banner I’ve inverted the V shape with a holly and berry stamp from another Stampin’ Up! set, Hang Your Stocking.  The sentiment is from the same set, which I embossed in gold to match the gold embossing on the ornaments.

Over at ABC Christmas they are looking for old or new items on your project.  My stamps are new; both sets got inked for the first time on this card and arrived in my Stampin’ Up! order from last month.  The dies are old; they’ve been in my stash for a couple of years.

I’m also entering my card in the current ‘Christmas in July’ challenge at My Time to Craft.

…if it is not indigestion, I think it must be gratitude

Had to make a thank you and farewell combination card for a male colleague so I went with a CAS design featuring a Tim Holtz Mixed Media die and a chippie from Make It Crafty.

Went with the die cut design to fit the current challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies.  I’ve used this same design for a sympathy card too; it’s cased from a card I saw at a craft show demo.  A great way to use the mixed media dies and really effective yet elegantly CAS and perfect for male cards.

Over at Just Us Girls they are looking for ink blending so that’s what I did for the background to my die cut.  I used several shades of blue Distress Inks and then spritzed with water for a lovely almost ombre effect.  I used the same colours blended together over the chippie ‘thanks’, which I teamed with a printed sentiment.

As this card is CAS, blue and actually going out to a male I am also entering it in the current male challenge at Crafty Friends.
