…the sight of the stars always makes me dream…

I’m sharing a card with another commissioned image from Mayzy Art, this one is Irene.

For this card I’ve followed the current sketch at Atlantic Hearts and kept it CAS.  I’ve added interest through the matting, lots of matting.  Over at Double D they have a silver and gold challenge so I’ve used layers of silver and gold cardstock with black to help show it off.  My sentiment is a gold foil rub-on, taking a couple of different words from Tim’s Christmas packs to create one suitable for a birthday.  My only embellies are some stars also from the same packs, gold around the sentiment and silver on the corners.

As the current challenge at Southern Girls is an anything goes one I am also linking my card up there.

The snow-drop, April’s meekest child…

Sharing a CAS birthday card I made for a friend featuring the image she had done for her by Mayzy, this is Corinne.

It’s actually quite a good likeness of Corinne, with her big hair and big smile!

My card layout comes from the current sketch at Hand Stamped Sentiments and my sentiment from a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Perfect Words.  I double matted everything in black and red to echo the colours of Corinne’s top, she loves red and black.

Now it might seem a bit odd to have snowflakes on a birthday card but when I saw they were the theme at Addicted to Stamps and also the embellie shape on the sketch I just had to go with them.  After all, Corinne loves the snow, loves her short shorts too.  Strange for an Aussie like me to contemplate wearing short shorts in weather cold enough for snow but guess when you’re used to the cold you can wear what you want.

I added in my snowflakes with another retired Stampin’ Up! stamp called Serene Snowflakes as well as a Tim Holtz Frozen Alpha Parts.  For some added sparkle, the current theme over at Crafty Friends, I did the snowflakes in glitter and popped some rhinestones in the centre.

…then he climbed to the top of his tree…

Well Christmas is over and so the birthday cards start again, today’s features Ricky Hanging Around from Tiddly Inks and is heading out to my nephew.

To make up my card I’ve used sketch #30 from Tuesday Morning Sketches, as they currently have an anything goes challenge going on.  You didn’t have to use one of their past sketches but I always like to use a sketch and this one suited my image well.

As this is going out to a boy I added in the rectangular elements with torn corrugated cardstock, a nod to all the cardboard box cars and planes and things little boys love to make.  To keep with the colour scheme I decided to colour on Kraft, my second so far and I do love the effect.

This is going out to a boy and I think is suitably masculine in theme.  Kept it fairly CAS as a result with a few metal embellies for a bit of interest.  Master is turning six so a Tim Holtz number brad worked well.  Thinking the sentiment is a bit big but the die is new and I just had to use it.  As my card is CAS and features an image of a child and is going out to a child I am also entering my card in the current challenge at Less is More.

Over at Bizzy Bec’s they are running an anything goes challenge so also linking my card up there.

It was the Yuletide, that men call Christmas…

I’m here with my final Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016, a fittingly Christmas themed one.

I’ve had a real blast playing along with all 12 months this year and this one was no different.  I’d made Tim’s December tag last year so was familiar with his burlap and punches technique.  This year I went with the Argyle stencil and had two of Tim’s punches to use for my foliage.  To add a bit more interest I added a bow from Crinkle Ribbon as a base for the punched leaves with a Gumdrop centre.  I matched the ribbon with the tie for the tag, dying some Crinkle Ribbon with Distress stains and ink sprays.

I was lucky to have one set of Tim’s Christmas Shadowpress embossing folders for the shadowpress technique.  I think it looks awesome with the gold embossing powder on the red background, very festive and striking.

In making up my tiles I took inspiration from the glitter theme at Unicorn Challenge and used a scrap of the Holiday Deco Sheet for one tile.  Also covered a Decorative Deer with glitter, love how they come up looking like the old Christmas decorations we used have when I was a kid.  The current theme is Christmas over at Cards und More so I am also linking my tag up there.

Love the whole look and feel of this tag, so delightfully Christmassy and vintage.  Sad the year is over so there are no more tags to make but looking forward to next year’s.  Here’s my year of tags in review, so much fun to make.
