Say what? I’m a bunny!

Sharing my one and only Easter card for the year, featuring the cute The Chick Who was a Lamb by Stamping Bella.

The layout of my card follows the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  It seemed only fitting to use an egg shape for the any shape element.  I cut my egg from some fab Easter paper by BoBunny and added my sentiment in a combination of a chippie from Make it Crafty and half of a ‘Happy Easter’ die.  My stamped image was just the perfect size to fit into the rectangular element of the sketch, I did chop off one of the chicks though as it didn’t really fit the vibe of this card.

I was going for something fun with this card though, and I think these chickies all done up in their bunny costumes are super cute and clearly having fun playing dress-ups.  So I think this fits the current playful theme over at Time Out challenges and am entering my card there.

It certainly meets the chicks ’n bunnies theme at The Sisterhood of Crafters, even if the chicks are the bunnies!

De tous les billets doux, devenus papillons

Sharing a CAS card featuring the lovely Butterfly Gown stencil from Funky Fossil Designs.

I decided to go with a stencil rather than stamp as my main feature on this card so I could play along at Mod Squad.  I used Distress Inks and the smallest of the Life Changing Blender Brushes so I could ink the stencil in different colours.  I wasn’t game to outline the butterflies completely so limited myself just to adding in their bodies with some Enamel Accents.

My colour choice is inspired by the cookies at If You Give a Crafter a Cookie.  The cookie inspiration was also why I added the green accents in Enamel Accents, to give a bit of height and texture to imitate icing, and why I chose the Ornate Trims and embossed them for my two accent lines.

I’ve got those accent lines as part of my layout thanks to the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches I’ve followed.  My image was too big for the rectangular element so I used mats to create it topping the three coloured ones with a dry embossed white panel.  I then fussy cut my stencil girl and placed her over the top.

This card is actually going out to a friend for her birthday but I thought adding a sentiment would ruin the simplicity and elegance of the design.  I also couldn’t see any need for any embellies deciding to keep this uber CAS to let that gorgeous stencil shine.

On one’s back they are a heavy weight

Sharing a card featuring the sweet Tiny Townie Bess the Butterfly from Stamping Bella.

I made this card for my Mum, who’s off to a first birthday party, so I left off fussy embellies in case anything fell off and became a chocking hazard.  Instead I used the elements from the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch to add interest by using multiple layers.  For the thin rectangle element, I added some butterflies using a stencil and Nuvo Mousse so I could play along at CAS Stencil.  I think Nuvo Mousse is like texture paste or gel, at least I hope it’s considered the same kind of thing!

I did add one embellie, my sentiment chippie from Make it Crafty.  Apart from loving these beyond all other chippies in the world I wanted to also play at Shopping Our Stash.  I heat embossed the chippie in an embossing powder that matched the Nuvo Mousse I used for my butterflies to tie the whole card together.

It’s a bit of a pink explosion but I think still a sweet card for a little girl and Mum is more than happy with it, and it’s always good to keep your Mum happy!
