What is really beautiful needs no adorning

Sharing a card featuring the beautiful Stylish stencil by Funky Fossil Designs.

This is a stunning stencil and it makes the most gorgeous of cards.  For this one I actually masked off the neck on the stencil to make the image smaller to fit into my layout, which is from the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I’ve flipped the sketch vertically so the sentiment is at the bottom to fit the image better.  For added interest I’ve double matted everything and varied the sizes of the mat layers.

Over at Addicted to CAS they’re looking for ombre designs.  I’ve sprayed Distress Resist Spray through my stencil and used one shade of Distress Ink, Shaded Lilac, to then colour my watercolour paper and make the stencilled image stand out.  Not sure if there’s something wrong with my Shaded Lilac inkpad as the colour is definitely more blue than purple, particularly where I’ve added more layers of colour to create the ombre effect.

With my layers of coloured mats and large image there really was no need for any designer paper on this card, which is just as well as I wanted to play along at Creative Craft Cottage for their no patterned paper challenge.

Keeping this card CAS, I’ve only added two embellies, one is my sentiment, a fabby Make it Crafty chippie I’ve used embossing powder to colour and a tiny pearl and pearl drop as an earring.  For a card that was super quick to put together and took minimal supplies I am really happy with how it turned out.
