So he took some thread and stitched a pretty twinkle in her eye…

My card today features a beautiful image from Aurora Wings called Steampunk Girl with Doll.

Everything on this card comes from my immense stash of craft supplies which I somehow managed to select from and not think “I wish I had something in this colour or that colour”!  I had my colour scheme chosen based on the recipient’s favourites and the whole theme of a bit shabby chic and Steampunky I hope reflects her tastes too.

For a change I didn’t follow a sketch to make up my card as the fold style and the embellies I chose made it easy to put the elements together.  I did follow a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers to make my bendi fold card although a tip, make the flaps a bit bigger so they don’t pull out.  I also took inspiration from the various challenge themes for the challenges on Paper Playful to help me pick the embellies I used.

And for selecting elements to use on a card nothing beats a tic tac toe challenge, I’ve used the bottom row (flowers, pearls/bling, ribbon/twine) from Creative Knockout’s current challenge.  With ribbon also the theme at Crafty Ribbons along with anything goes I’m entering my card in their challenge.  I’ve distressed up the edges of my designer paper and I’ve got a digi stamp so I’m also linking my card at Digistamps 4 Joy.  You can never have too much bling and that’s the current challenge at Paper Crafting Journey so I’m entering their challenge too.  Somehow or other the linky tool has closed over at Through the Purple Haze but this was going to be my entry this week for their use your craft stash challenge given, as I said, all the supplies came from my stash.

And to spread wing and fly in the outer air

It’s release day over at Simply B Stamps, this time we are re-releasing the Steampunk Romance collection and I am featuring this beautiful image called Annie.

With her aviation goggles on her head she made me think of brown leather so that is the colour I have used on her outfit.  For some reason Annie also wanted to be a red head and wear fishnet stockings, funny how an image speaks to you sometimes.

To make up my mini album page I’ve followed the sketch at Seems a Little Sketchy.  With all my sparkly bling I am entering this in the current challenges at Allsorts Challenge and Crafty Hands.  I’ve also got some metal so I meet the optional element of the anything goes challenge at Creative Fingers so I’m also linking it up there.  And, as Steampunk is all about vintage I’m also entering in the current A Creative Romance challenge.

Lace, latch or catch or key to keep

I’ve got an off-the-page project to share today, a pretty box I made to use for the choker I made during Spooktober.

I started with a 8x8 matchbook box from Graphic 45 and set to with my Lindy’s Stamp Gang starbursts.  The recipient loves red, which worked well as the current challenge theme at Through the Purple Haze is to use red (or one of two other colours).

I think the result is a very pretty box, so am entering it in the current Divas by Design challenge.  And, as it is definitely not a card, I’m also linking it up at the challenge over at Cute Card Thursday.

Tumbling Down Stairs

Today I’m showcasing the final image in the Alice in Wonderland Steampunk Style collection from Simply B Stamps, Down the Rabbit Hole.

I wanted to try a different kind of fold on this card and found a tutorial for an origami fold card on Splitcoast Stampers so thought I’d try it out.  It creates a card and envelope in one that neatly hides the treasures inside, you could even say it is a little bit mysterious!

You don’t even get to the heart of this card from the first part of opening it but, on my version, you do get your second hint of what’s inside with another version of the White Rabbit, this time a stamped one.  I cropped this image out of the Clever Little Alice image, also from the Alice in Wonderland Steampunk collection.

As you can from the close-up picture above, I left the area around the image plain as I tried out all manner of embellishments but nothing looked right and I realised that was because I didn’t want anything calling attention away from the gorgeous image.  So instead I’ve embellished on the panels around the image and carried the theme of the bow and White Rabbit charm from the “envelope”.

With all my metal embellishments I’m entering this in the current challenge at Robyn’s Fetish and with my sparkly bows I’m also linking it up at the challenge at Paper Playtime.  I’m also hoping that this is mysterious enough to qualify for the current Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where I’m also entering it.
