Wednesday means only one thing, a new sketch over at the Outlawz and my card today features the lovely Iris image from this month’s fabby sponsor, Oak Pond Creations.

 

And here’s this week’s sketch.

I’ve fallen out of the habit of playing along at Through the Purple Haze so before I sat down to make my card I headed over there to check out their current challenge.  It is to use an inspirational image, quite a different image it is too!  Between the feathers and the colours I kept thinking shabby chic, a style that really suited this sketch too.  I picked up the purples, pinks and blues from the inspiration image in my papers and embellies and the slight green tinges in my scrap of ribbon.

The sketch was a great one for layering up my papers and I do love to use various patterned papers on my cards, love the extra weight and thickness they give to the card.  I’ve got three on this one so I’m also entering my card in the current challenge over at Craft Your Passion.

Corrosive Challenges are running a theme of “B” Unique looking for three things starting with the letter ‘b’; I’ve got some lovely blooms (both embellies and the image), some sparkly bling and a beautiful butterfly.  So I’m entering my card in the challenge.

Be not sick too late, nor well too soon

I have the honour of being a guest DT  at Through the Purple Haze challenge this month and today is my first post for this week’s anything goes challenge featuring an image from the sponsor Lacy Sunshine’s Sadie.

Now did you think that I didn’t colour up Sadie?  Surely not, for that wouldn’t have been much fun and this is definitely a fun card.  All it takes is to pull gently on the handle on the top to give Sadie back her colour.

I followed a tutorial from Keren of Altered Ego; Keren has been kind enough to post up tutorials and patterns for a range of fab card designs.  Go check out her blog and her great take on this secret slider card.

To make up my card I took some inspiration from Die Cut Diva’s where they have an inspirational photo posted as their challenge theme.  Being an Aussie myself the colours of the rosellas and bush were very familiar and worked well for a get well card.

I’ve used my favourite embellies, flowers, to make up my card.  Lovely sunny coloured ones to help brighten someone’s day who is feeling, well, off colour.  With my flowers I am entering my card in the current challenges at Allsorts and Sweet Stampin’ (got the stamp part covered too).

…it fell to me to give the lion’s roar

It’s challenge time at Simply Steampunk Challenges and we have an easy theme this month, anything goes.  Here is my card featuring the gorgeous Leo from the Steampunk Zodiac collection at Simply B Stamps.

I’ve made up my card following an Outlawz sketch, the recurring shapes reminded me of a lion’s mane so suited my image perfectly.  This card is going to be for a friend’s birthday, I’ve gotten in very early as she is a Leo so I won’t need this till August.

Because it is for a birthday card I’ve gone Steampunk but not over the top, rather I’ve chosen paper that fits my Leo theme in the colours and even the cog pattern is a bit swirly like a mane.  I’ve also added flowers mostly because I love flowers but also to add a nice feminine touch to compliment the image.  Being Steampunk I’m entering this in the current challenge at Through the Purple Haze.

Now this wouldn’t be a Steampunk card without a bit of metal and I do love my metal cog embellies.  I got a few bags in various colours and sizes recently and this is the first time I have got to use them and the lovely copper colour again fitted my theme perfectly.  With my metal embellies I am also entering this at Corrosive Challenge’s current challenge.

Santa’s Naughty Little List

I have a rather cheeky Christmas card to share today made for a friend with a suitably cheeky sense of humour.

Doesn’t look so cheeky from the front, does it?  Although those buttons are a bit suggestive aren’t they?  The sentiment gives a clue to the image inside, KennyK’s Bow (Adult).

Now with an image like this you just can’t leave things flat so I printed it out several times, got out my fussy cutting scissors and shaping tools and got ready for some decoupage action.  I think I managed to capture her curves quite nicely and I’m sure my firend would be very happy to find her sitting under his tree on Christmas morning!

I made up the front following the sketch at Pal’s Paper Arts, I just resized the sketch to suit my favourite card size of 6x6 and swapped out the single circle embellishment for two to suggest, well, I’m sure you get what they’re supposed to be.

As I’ve used a KennyK image I’m also entering this card in their current anything goes challenge.  And hopefully it isn’t too raunchy for the ladies over at Through the Purple Haze where the theme is ‘here comes Christmas day’; which inspired the sentiment and theme of this card.
