Today I’m sharing the one and only Christmas card I made with a coloured image this year featuring Gearing Up Betty from Simply B Stamps.

This is going out to a crafty friend who is into Steampunk and was a lot of fun to make.  I used the blue bingo over at Allsorts to help me with the design elements, going with blue and purple for the colours, masking and dry embossing.  I punched out some snowflakes from a Tim punch and used these as masks to create the background.  The dry embossing is a bit hard to see as I did it on white card for the two thin elements of the design.

The layout of my card follows the current sketch at Cheerful Sketches.  I’ve added in all the elements with various layers of paper, without pulling out a single sheet of Christmas or any other designer paper.  For some simple embellies I covered the cogs in the image with metal ones.

Over at My Time to Craft they are looking for non-traditional colours on Christmas projects, which my blue and purple combo certainly is.  I also used Kraft to colour the image on, not necessarily non-traditional for Christmas but it is a new medium for me.  This is the first image I’ve coloured on Kraft and I have to say I really like the effect, especially on a Steampunk image.
