Sharing a card featuring part of the uber cute Carpenter Joe image from Tiddly Inks.

Sadly this image didn’t make the cut when Christy moved back to Esty and closed her online store.  I’ve cropped down Joe to fit with the sketch I’ve used, which is from CAS(E) this Sketch.  He’s the flower element and I’ve done the rectangle element with some ink blending.  I then stamped my sentiment over both and threw on some extra embossing ink to make the splatter pattern featured in the sketch.  I figured added the splatter in this way with the colour I’ve gone with makes it kinda like shiny saw dust or maybe some metal shavings, although I know the latter doesn’t really fit with a carpenter but heck, maybe he’s more an all-round handyman like Bob the Builder.

As my card is CAS, I am also entering it in the current challenge at Cardz 4 Guys.  Loads of white space on it with just some single colour matting to add a bit of interest.  They’ve got a real simple happy birthday theme at TGIF this week so I’m linking up there too.

…the seriousness of a child at play

Sharing a birthday card for my niece featuring the cute Wryn Skater Girl from Tiddly Inks.

Wryn actually looks like my niece who loves to have fun, skating being but one of many ways in which she fills her time.  Her fav colour is green, hence the green overload on this card.  For the background I thought I’d do some embossing resist so I could play along at TGIF and use the layered distress oxide technique by Jennifer McGuire.

As I’ve done my card as a 6x6 square I’m entering it over at Seize the Birthday.  OK, so I only ever do square cards at that size but they’re also an anything goes birthday challenge and I’m sure they won’t mind that the twist just happens to be my every day!

But in my heart, I am a gamer

Sharing a card featuring the fun Gamer image from Tiddly Inks.

I turned the TV screen into a shaker panel and added a background I printed with the birthday sentiment.  Was a bit tricky given how thin the sides of the TV are but worth the effort I think.

Mounted the whole thing on a very CAS background where I added interest through layers of coloured cardstock ~ this would be why I burn through ATG tape!  The colours may look familiar to anyone who follows NRL football here in Australia and were chosen as the young Master this is going to is a big Panthers’ fan.

The layout is from the current sketch over at Atlantic Hearts.  The stripes on the sketch reminded me of a footy jersey hence going with the Panthers’ colours.  My nephew is also a gamer (aren’t all 12-year-old boys?!) and the image is perfect for the current challenge at Inkspirational.

Oh boy, the more I look at the pic of the card the more crooked the centre panel looks!  Must step away and stop looking at it before I am tempted to try some remedial action and end up ruining it.
