We have lingered in the chambers of the sea…

My card today features a gorgeous image, Starfish Mermaid, from Aurora Wings, which was part of a fundraiser campaign.

To decorate the front of my card I’ve followed the current sketch at Noor! & Zo.  I used three different kinds of ribbons and threads for the rectangular element, each of which reminded me of the sea and mermaids.  I’ve also used three roses and three shells so have three each of three kinds of embellishments.  I’ve also used two different patterned papers and have one digi so I am entering my card at Card Mania.  As my card features a mermaid and other nautical inspired elements I am also entering the current challenge at Colouring in Scrapland.

I wanted to do something special with this card and image as this is going out to a crafty friend so I thought it was the perfect excuse to try the fancy popup card I’d seen recently.  You can find the instructions to make this card on YouTube where the uber talented Nicole goes through her design.  If you go to my new Patterns & Tuts page you will find the pattern for my version as a 6x6 card.

I went with some lovely nautical dies from Noor! Design, which I highlighted in white acrylic paint and spritzed with Perfect Pearls Mist in Perfect Pearls.  I used the Perfect Pearls on my flowers on the front too, which I coloured up with PanPastels.  I printed my sentiment and then foiled it for some added sparkle along with some Prima crystals.  I finished off with a die cut border from Noor! Design and a string of pearls.  Love how this card turned out.
