I was once like you are now…

I’m sharing my September tag for Tim Holtz’s 12 Tags of 2016.

I ended up using the same stamp set Tim used for his as it was the only masculine stamp set I had that had a closed design to use for the alcohol ink resist technique.  We are simply not going to talk about the number of pieces of Yupo I ruined before I finally got to this result.  I will just say that to finally get the resist through the stencil to work I sacrificed the nib of my Copic Colourless Blender, all other attempts to use the ink blending tool like Tim did ended in a splodge of messiness and near tears of frustration.

The distress patina technique was almost as hard and I can’t say I’m happy with the background I finally went with.  Despite the instructions saying to use more of the metallic paints I ended up with pretty much nothing but them showing up and a rather murky result, thankfully mostly hidden under the top layer.

Here in Australia we celebrate Fathers’ Day in September so that is the theme I have chosen for my tag.  My embellies and the words I chose for the stencil resist all reflect that and I’ve kept this deliberately CAS with minimal embellies.  Over at Stamping Sensations they are looking for projects for males so I am entering my tag there.

The Crazy Challenge current theme is Burlap and/or twine and I’ve used the latter to secure my Typed Token.  I chose the word ‘brave’ as that is what dads are, well at least mine is.  Maybe not in the rescue someone from a burning building type of brave but in the crawl under my house to fix the plumbing notwithstanding his claustrophobia or climb a ladder to fix my roof notwithstanding his fear of heights kind.  You get the picture; my dad does stuff for me despite his own fears so he is my kind of brave.
