I’m sharing a quick CAS card featuring a couple of Tim Holtz’s crazy creatures, one of his birds on the outside.

And a cat on the inside.

Over at Less is More they are looking for frames on your project so I decided to frame both images and sentiments on a bit of Kraft cardstock.  For some added interest I cut my frames using wonky stitched dies.  I deliberately didn’t add any other embellies as this card is headed out to a guy.

As I have two animals on my card (how awesome are Tim’s crazy critters for male cards?) I am entering it at Fairytale Challenge.  I was originally going to go just with the cat and have it and the sentiment on the front of the card but decided I wanted to play in the current Simon Says challenge so added in my bird (they want to see things with wings).  Very glad I did add it in as I really like how the colours came up against the Kraft.

And wild and sweet the words repeat…

I’ve got a simple Christmas card to share today featuring Tim Holtz’s Christmas Words.

The colour scheme for my card comes from the current challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown.  I used the lime and cream to make my background and the burgundy for my stamp. 

I chose a text only stamp to suit the current theme at CAS on Sunday.  This was such a simple card to make I can see me doing a whole lot to make up the number I generally need to make each year.

My stamping wasn’t quite even but I only realised after I added the embossing powder.  The slightly rubbed out look is growing on me and suits the ‘distressed’ look of the bits where there was plenty of ink and powder (I used Distress Embossing Powder on this).

Over at Happy Little Stampers Watercolour challenge they are looking for smooshing.  I’d not done the technique before so thought I’d give it a go on the background for this card.  This one is my third attempt, the videos all looks so easy!

I’ve never seen you shine so bright

Sharing a quick CAS card I made using some of the stamps from the Beautiful You set from Stampin’ Up!.

I’ve really grown to love CAS cards and how elegant they can look, especially in a classic colour scheme of black and white with a pop of colour.  I chose to go with red for my colour pop to match the current theme at Try it on Tuesday of ‘The Lady in Red’.

Over at Stamp Ink Paper they are celebrating the birthday of one of their DT, Andrea, and are looking for birthday themed projects.  I don’t always put a birthday sentiment on my birthday cards but I really liked the one that came in the Beautiful You set so I added it to my card.  I just masked off the ‘gorgeous’ as it’s not really something I’d say to the recipient.

I resisted the urge to add in any shaker elements and therefore also stayed clear of my dies so I’m linking this up at CAS-ual Fridays where dies are currently not allowed.  For a bit of sparkle and bling I did add in a few tiny gems.

…why don’t you show me the real Paris?

I’ve had a crafty weekend while the rain fell outside and this is the last card I made featuring Tim Holtz’s stamps from his Runway and Leaf Prints sets.

My inspiration comes from the current Fusion challenge where I’ve used both the sketch and the image.  I created my scene by first stamping the woman and the ‘trees’ in black ink then embossing ink covering them in clear embossing powder.  I ‘coloured’ the dress with a mix of yellow ink and embossing ink so I could also add in my clear embossing powder over the top.  Using the embossing powder meant I didn’t need to try and mask my images (particularly difficult for the thin parts of the trees) before adding in my watercolour background.  I used a Finnabair stamp for the background to help give me the grainy and splotchy effect I wanted.

Over at Craft Rocket they are looking for feminine projects, which mine certainly is, being rather chic and featuring an image of a woman.  I couldn’t resist adding a shaker element to this; it is the year of the shaker for me.  Rather than the background to the image I’ve just done the thin corner strip framing the focal element.  With all my foam tape creating my shaker I am also entering this in the current challenge at Southern Girls.
