…he will make a fool of himself too

Made up a fun birthday card for a colleague using one of Tim’s cute dogs from the Crazy Dogs set.

To help me decorate my card I’ve played along with the current bingo board at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  I’ve gone for the diagonal row from the top left using a blue palette, twine for some embellishment and stamping my dog on a die cut rectangle.

My card follows the sketch over at Paper Craft Crew.  As I needed a rectangle to make my bingo row I swapped out the circle for a rectangle.  I used twine for the same reason and it also goes well for a masculine card, which this is.  I brought the washi tape element to the front to add in my sentiment, which I printed over some digi washi tape and popped up on some foam tape.  This is going out to a colleague who said we weren’t allowed to do anything for his birthday as he didn’t want a fuss, hence the sentiment I added.

Instead of any embellies for the three small circle elements I’ve used one of the speech bubbles from the Crazy Thoughts set that matched my sentiment.  Think the cute doggie also looks a bit perplexed so he was a good match too.

I created the grungy background stamping (instead of the text background) with one of the stamps from the Butterfly Melange set.  I stamped the complete stamp three times next to each other using a block and then took the stamp off the block and just stamped as is to get the unfinished portion on the top.  Distress embossing powder completed the worn and grungy look.

At Crafting by Designs they are looking for projects with animals so I am also linking up my doggie card there.

…il vous flatte pour un temps, et puis vous allume tout d'un coup une fièvre continue…

I got in a second Christmas card this weekend; this one features the cute The Penguin and the Marshmallow stamp from Stamping Bella.

My card layout is from CAS(E) this Sketch where I’ve used my stamped image as the round element.  I added the sentiment from the set and heat embossed it, stamping in Gathered Twigs Distress Ink first and then embossing ink with clear embossing powder over the top.  I’ve gone with a muted brown tone to my card to match the hot chocolate the penguin is drinking.

Over at Jingle Belles they are looking for stars or stripes on your card.  I’ve gone with stars with a piece of starry designer paper from Maja Design’s Home for the Holidays collection.  I made my own star embellies too with some La-La Land copper foil and a star punch.  I love that foil, my crafty friend gave me a sample and I’m using up every scrap!

I’m also entering my card in the current challenge at Crafty Gals’ Corner where they’re looking for projects for any holiday.

There’s only splendour for the sight

I’m sharing a CAS Christmas card I made featuring the gorgeous Spiral Christmas Tree die from Dixi Craft.

I decided to go with a Christmas tree on this card as that’s the optional twist at Happy Little Stampers in their current Christmas challenge.

Over at Sparkles Christmas they are challenging you to make a Christmas card with non-traditional colours.  I thought I’d play along and to help me pick my colours I used the colour palette from CAS Colours & Sketches.  So my tree is cut from Stampin’ Up! cardstock in Dapper Denim.  I cut two and layered them on top of each other to give some dimension to my card.  The star is cut from copper foil from La-La Land and I’ve decorated the tree with some gems I coloured with a Copic marker that was a pretty close match to Peekaboo Peach.

Nothing makes the earth seem so spacious…

I’m sharing a card today that mostly features sentiments from the Stuff to Say set by Tim Holtz.

The design is from a tut on the Joy! Crafts site by Geertje.  It was a bit tricky getting the base right but once I did this turned out to be a really awesome card.  Being a special shaped card I am entering it in the current challenge at Creative Shopping.

To help me decorate the card I used the current board over at Tic Tac Toe and took the centre vertical line.  This gave me my base colour of grey, used a light grey for the card itself and then a darker one to frame my designer papers.  Some of my diecuts are also embossed (dry) and my sentiment, stamped images and some diecuts are also heat embossed.

I also took on the challenge from Frilly and Funkie to find an image and use it as my inspiration.  So I searched Google for shabby chic and vintage French and this image was so pretty I based my design around it.

I took the rose pattern and the stripes from the bed covers and found matching designer papers and for my third paper I took the damask pattern from the wallpaper.  I also picked up the cream and light brown colouring in my choices.  This view of the inside of the card insert shows how I recreated the three pictures from the wall in my card using images from the Beautiful You set by Stampin Up!.

As there was nowhere to really write on the card I made tags, I’ve got one in the photo.  I actually made five with digis that resembled the others in my team who also signed this card for a colleague who is leaving.  Picking up the floral decorations in the room I chose roses for embellies.  Rather than a filigree heart or the clocks I chose a butterfly for the suspended embellie, cutting one from ice blue vinyl (looked similar to the colour of the clocks in the picture) and didn’t back it so it had the filigree look of the heart on the wall.

Really love how this turned out.  Was up late last night and had to finish it off quickly today at work as we had a farewell lunch today but worth the effort as our colleague loved it.
