Now the jingle hop has begun

Sharing a fun Christmas card I made for my former manager using the Hop Hop Set from Art Impressions.

There’s four us who used to work for the same manager and although we’ve all moved to different teams we came together for a Christmas lunch at his house and this was the card I made for us to sign.  Being four, I had to do some masking with the stamp to add in an extra woman, which turned out to be way trickier than it should have been!

The layout of my card is from the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I added interest to my otherwise pretty CAS card through layers of plain cardstock and some of the Tim Holtz Deco Sheets.  When it came to the sentiment, there was no way I was going to be able to mask as I needed to for it to be in one line so I decided to print my own.  That also allowed me to alter it slightly to fit with the festive season.

For my colours I’ve used the current palette at Merry Monday, picking up all of the colours in the various outfits and bouncy balls.  To keep this Christmassy though, I’ve used red and green as the base of my card.

As this is a Christmas card and it is for a guy I’m entering it in the current challenge at The Male Room.  Being for a guy I went pretty CAS on it.  The only embellie is a Fluted Star from Tim Holtz, which I added to cover a stray bit of inking (didn’t quite get the masking right!).

You might as well not believe in fairies!

Sharing a countdown calendar I’ve made up for Christmas featuring some Tim Holtz dies and other bits and bobs from his Idea-ology range.

I have the honour of guesting over at Fussy and Fancy for their Christmas challenge, which starts today.  We’ve all still got Christmas crafting left on our to do lists so have a bit of fun creating and then go link up to join in the fun.

To make my countdown calendar I started with one of Tim’s Etcetera tags and added some burlap layered under a sheet of BoBunny Double Dot Vintage cardstock in Passion Fruit.  I went with pink and blue on this to play along with the Christmas in unusual colours challenge at Creative Friday.

I cut the houses, mountains and trees from Tim’s Snowglobe die and the Santa with his reindeer from the Village Christmastime set from Yupo paper and then used alcohol inks to colour them up.  I topped the trees with Mirrored Stars I coloured with a drop of the alcohol ink.  Before I added the die cuts to the tag I stencilled some snowflakes across the top in lovely blue glitter paste.

My countdown element was added using Tim’s Countdown Coins and a hook from the Vignette Hardware set.  I formed the words ‘days to’ from the Halloween Typography set (it’s the only one I had), with a bit of the glitter paste on top.  I also added glitter paste to the Make it Crafty chippie Christmas.

As this was made for a friend I wanted it to be a bit special so I also made my very first foam flower, which turned out pretty good.  And, as a nod to the base tag, I added in a little ribbon for a tie behind my flower.

Over at Let’s Craft and Create they’re looking for any Christmas creations so I am linking my countdown calendar there.  I’m also entering the ’Twas the Challenge Before Christmas at Moving Along With the Times where they wanted you to be inspired by the classic poem.  I’ve taken the scene of Santa flying away in his sleigh and recreated it on my tag.

In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall

This is the second of my two watercolour postcards, for it I’ve used the Stampin’ Up! Carols of Christmas set.

For the layout I’ve followed the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch, I’ve just gone super simple with the two corner elements.  I made five of this design and got varying amounts of detail in the ornaments and leaves, on some you can see the patterns in others the stamps were obviously too wet so I ended up with a silhouette image.

Over at Addicted to CAS they are looking for sparkle so I’ve added some to my card by cutting my sentiment from a Deco Sheet.  I love how you get all that glittery sparkle with none of the mess.

I’m also linking my card at CAS on Friday for their current Christmas challenge.
