Yet, love, mere love, is beautiful indeed

Sharing an engagement card featuring the Cheers image from Vanilla Arts.

I really wasn’t sure what to put on this card so looked at some challenges for inspiration.  Over at Less is More their current theme is beverages, which naturally made me think of champagne and toasting to the happy couple.  The gold dipped prompt at Inkspirational led me to foiling, mostly because I couldn’t find the champagne die I have and I only had the digi not a real stamp so couldn’t ink up with gold.  I did add in the stars with a stamp and used Jennifer McGuire’s foil stamping technique.  Not sure if it was my dodgy stamping (I knew I should have used my Tim platform!) or what but my foiling ended up rather thicker than I expected.  I would have started again but my laser printer was being temperamental so I thought best to stick to what I had.

I used the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my layout.  The stars form the larger rectangle element and I brought in the three circles with a die cut around my image and sentiment.  I popped the die cut up on foam dots for some added depth, seeing as I cut it straight from the kraft cardstock of my card front.  I also layered up the front on some gold and black cardstock because, well, I love layering over multiple mats.

Although the colour scheme is neutral and there aren’t any embellies I think the foiling adds a touch of elegance and I am really quite pleased with how this came together.

…and all things nice

Sharing a card I made for my niece featuring the super sweet Gorjuss girl, Sugar and Spice, stamp from Santoro.

For the layout of my card I’ve followed the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch.  I’ve used my sentiment for the thin rectangular element and mounted my stamped image on the focal rectangular element.  As this card is for a birthday and features a birthday sentiment, I’m entering it in the current challenge at Allsorts, who are turning 10.  I haven’t even been blogging or really into card making properly for that long so its quite the achievement and am glad I could play along in this milestone challenge.

Over at Cardz 4 Galz they have a recipe challenge, which helped me with the elements of the card.  I was always going to have an image and sentiment but I went with the pretty designer papers to fit the recipe and added in three gems as embellies for the same reason.  It was a great recipe as the end result is a very pretty card, which I hope my niece will love.

…the larger kind we feel for what we give

Sharing a card I made for a colleague featuring a lovely flower die from Penny Black called Glamorous as the focal point instead of my usual stamped image.

I started my card with the sketch over at Sketch Saturday and decided to use another die to cut the circle element and frame my flower.  For the banner element I cut bits off a couple of Make it Crafty chipboards and simply brushed them with some Nuvo shimmer ink.  My flower is cut from watercolour paper and then distress inked so I could play along at the Alphabet Challenge.

I did my sentiment in two shades of purple ink, topping each with some clear embossing powder for a lovely bit of shine and texture.

I kept the background neutral and cut the circle frame out of my white cardstock, popping it up on some foam dots for a bit of added interest.  My embellies are also very minimal to keep the whole design quite CAS.  As that’s the current theme at My Time To Craft, I’m also linking my card up there.
