…must have been some magic in that old silk hat…

I’ve got a card to share today featuring the cute Snowman image from Glimps.

The snowman is coloured with water colours and to make the card more Christmassy I did the birds up as cardinals, although frankly I need way more practice with my water colours!  The sentiment is from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps and is one from the Holiday Style set.  It comes stacked so I carefully inked each of the three lines and used my MISTI to position each one to give me a one line sentiment instead.

Over at Winter Wonderland they are asking you to add snowflakes to your project.  I’ve already done a few cards up with snowflakes as the main image and wanted to use the Snowman so had to put my thinking cap on.  The embossing theme at Moving Along With the Times was just what I needed especially as a rummage through my embossing folder box turned up the Snowfall one from Sheena Douglas.  So I now have lots of snowflakes on my card, they just happen to be too small to look like the lovely individually shaped things they are up close!

I also wanted to play at Jingle Belles where the theme is ‘All Bundled-Up’ meaning lots of layers.  I’m loving my CAS at the moment so did my layers up in single colours rather than with my designer papers.  Including my card base and the fussy cut image I have five layers in total.

Ring-a-ling, hear them ring…

I’m sharing a card today I made as guest DT over at Crimbo Crackers for the current bells challenge featuring some Tim Holtz bell dies.

To make up my card I followed the current sketch at Jingle Belles.  I did add in the whole musical sentiment element to the sketch.  One, because I wanted to make sure it was clear these were Christmas bells and not wedding bells, and two, because I also wanted to enter the current challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown which is for musical notation.  It was crafty serendipity (there’s been a bit of that happening in my craft room lately, which is pretty amazing given the state of disorder it’s in!) that I had a sentiment that was actually lyrics from the Christmas song, Silver Bells.  This came from a Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps set and I stamped it over my musical notation (a Tim Holtz stamp), which I am sure is from an entirely different song, not sure which though as I can’t read music.

The current theme at Crafty Friends is for things beginning with ‘b’.  I’ve got no less than five b-b-bells on this card so I am linking it up over there.

If you’d like to come join the fun and ‘ring in the season’ with some bells over at Crimbo Crackers you have until 19 April to do so.
