And exhale a rainbow

Today’s card featuring a whole stack of stamps from Artist Impressions to create a cottage garden scene.

To make up this card I followed the tut my crafty friend Jenny posted a few weeks back, which you can find here.  You really need to go check out her blog, Jenny does the most amazing cards!

As this is a shaker box card with two interactive elements (it comes flat in an envelope but then opens out plus the shaker part) I am entering it in the current challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks.  Over at TGIF they want to see some repeat stamping.  I have lots on this card to create the garden, a row along the bottom of the shaker element, two different kinds in the wheel barrow as well as repeated flowers in the various pots.

The entire card has been water coloured so I’m also linking it up at Simon Say’s Stamp Work ItWednesday challenge.  I think the water colouring really helps to set the scene of an English cottage garden.

About to bloom

Sharing a different kind of craft today, a teacup posy featuring a bunch of foamiran peonies I made.

I made this as a gift for a friend for her birthday.  I wasn’t sure what kind of flowers to make, just knew I wanted to make a posy of foamiran flowers but the photo inspiration at Just Us Girls looked like a peony and I had a tutorial bookmarked for foamiran peonies so went with them.  I hand cut all of the flowers and leaves, I just made myself a template from acetate, as I didn’t have any dies.  Each one is also individually coloured to give the flowers a tone toned and more realistic look.  It all took the better part of Sunday but I think it was worth it as they are really pretty and realistic to look at.

Over at Southern Girls they’re looking for flower projects so I am linking up my posy there.  At Always Fun they want to see anything but a card so am also entering their challenge with my very non-card creation.

Ingredients:
Flower making elements
Nellie Snellen ~ Foamiran & Yellow Stamens
Inks & Paints etc

There are more important things ~ friendship…

Sharing a card featuring a cute freebie image from Elizabeth Dulemba called Potter Bear.

A crafty friend has a bear named Bill who loves Harry Potter and it was his birthday so I went Googling for a bear and Harry Potter and found this fab image.  It was crafty serendipity!  I’ve coloured Potter Bear to look like my friend’s bear, hence why I don’t think his scarf is actually right for Harry Potter, it’s the colour of the scarf Bill wears.

To make up my card I’ve followed the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I just turned the circle element into an oval to better fit my image.  I made the rectangular element with a stencilled pattern and some glow in the dark Nuvo drops.  I made the stencil from a flourish die that kinda looked like spell magic swirls coming off a wand.  I then added some black with PanPastels to create the rectangle.

Over at Moving Along With the Times they are looking for wild animals.  Although my bear looks domesticated they are actually wild animals so hoping he still qualifies.  As this card was going to a male bear (yeah, I know he wouldn’t know but there’s a whole story behind Bill and making cards that bring a smile to people’s faces is why we craft) I kept it CAS with no embellies other than the chippies to add the sentiment.  So I’m also entering it in the current challenge at Sweet Stampin’.

Oh, and I visited Bill and his Mamma Bear today and he loved his card!
