Just a mean green mother from outer space…

Well maybe Seymour 2 is but not pretty little Betty, at least not this one from Simply B Stamps, the new Betty and Seymour 2 image released today.

I had to Google the movie for some inspiration as it’s been years since I saw it and then I had to challenge myself to do a platinum blonde, I think she turned out rather well.  With the whole botanical theme, the 7 Dots Studio paper I had in my stash was just perfect while a touch of Antique Linen Distress Ink brought my other papers up to the right tone.  And how could I use anything but that awesome Flourish with a Bling vine as an embellie?

To make up my card I used the current sketch at the Outlawz Wednesday Sketch challenge.  I am so glad I joined Outlawz as I love their sketches.  So while this isn’t my favourite sketch, I don’t have one those, Outlawz is definitely my favourite place for finding the perfect sketch, I’ve used every one since I joined.  So I am linking this up at Top Tip Tuesday for their current challenge.

With my digi image I am also entering this at My Sheri Crafts’ current challenge.  And how stinking cute is this image?

Sure to taste sweetly,—is that poison, too?

I have another CAS Valentine card featuring an Emo Valentine collection image from the vaults of Simply B Stamps, Candy Hoggin’ London.

I’ve stuck with my monochromatic Valentine’s although again with the splash of red for a bit of added interest.  Hopefully this doesn’t disqualify me from the current monochromatic challenge at Country View Challenges.

To make up my card I’ve followed the current sketch at Feeling Sketchy.  I used a die from Marianne Designs for the ribbon and bow element.

Don’t forget our challenge at Simply Challenged Challenges too, you can use any image but we sure love to see the SBS ones, it’s anything New Year’s related.

The worship which is Love, and see no more...

There’s a simply stunning new release over at Simply B Stamps of Abigail Larson images and today I have a project featuring Hades and Persephone 2.

I’ve fussy cut my image and mounted it on some grungy paper and then picked a more nature inspired designer paper for my background, although it too is a bit on the grunge side.  I’m loving FabScraps for this feel to their paper as it works beautifully with these Steampunk images.  With the decided grunge feel to this project I am entering it in the current Crafting Musketeers’ challenge.

As I am more drawn to the Victorian era style Steampunk and Abigail dresses her ladies in that style I used crochet for the line elements of the Outlawz sketch I followed to make up my Kraft album page.  And being Steampunk I had to add metal embellies but cogs and gears weren’t going to match so I’ve gone for florals instead.  While the rest of the elements are quite cool toned I think the contrast to the warm copper tones on the chippie works well.

I think this image perfectly captures the essence of the Hades and Persephone story, I imagine this scene to be when Hades first encounters Persephone and falls in love with her.  It’s that moment of suspense as two lips almost meet that resonates with love.  So I am also entering this at the current Oozak challenge.

Shot through the heart

I've got anotherValentine card featuring an Emo Valentine collection image from Simply B Stamps, this one is Cherub Christian.

It’s monochromatic like the other two Valentine’s I made, again with the teensiest bit of red for some pop and some gold in the delish Fran-tage.  Digi Galore has a monochrome challenge running and as I also have a digi on mine I am entering my card there.

My card follows the current sketch at Friday Sketch Challenge.  With all the shaped elements on this sketch it worked perfectly for a monochromatic theme as the shapes add a lot of interest and the heart element was the perfect mount for Cherub Christian.

With all my hearts and the very Valentine theme going I am also entering my card in the current Simply Create Too challenge.

Don’t forget our challenge at Simply Challenged Challenges too, you can use any image but we sure love to see the SBS ones, it’s anything New Year’s related.
