Farewell has a sweet sound of reluctance

Sharing a CAS card featuring a couple of stamps from the Dandelion Wishes set by Stampin’ Up!.

Needed to make a farewell card for a colleague who is moving interstate.  I actually only received the Dandelion Wishes set in a recent order and I’d picked it up with my Stampin’ Rewards as thought it would be good for all sorts of best wishes cards including farewells.

So I knew I wanted to use this set but wasn’t really sure what to do on my card until I saw the monochromatic challenge at ARTastic.  Combined with the embossing theme at CAS on Friday and I had my design worked out.  I stamped my image in VersaMark ink on a piece of coloured cardstock and embossed with Hero Arts White Satin Pearl embossing powder.  This powder leaves the colour underneath visible but gives a lovely shine.  I did stamp the sentiment in a slightly darker shade of blue grey so it would show up but added in some clear embossing powder to give it some shine and texture too.  Wasn’t sure if I used the White Satin Pearl powder again if it would go back to being a bit too pale to see.

Over at Southern Girls they’re looking for flora or fauna on your projects.  I know they are often just thought of as weeds but dandelions are the most fun flora when you are a kid.  Have to admit I still love blowing on a dandelion even if the adult in me can’t help but think of the extra weeds someone’s going to have to deal with as a result!

…when they are wide open in flight

Sharing a card featuring the gorgeous Tiny Townie Blanche the Butterfly stamp from Stamping Bella.

The photo isnt the best, I forgot to take one before I gave the card and so had to snap one over cake with my phone!

The layout of my card comes from the sketch over at TGIF.  I did swap out the rectangular elements for more organic rounded ones, using the stamped image for the large centre one and adding in two rounded rows of flowers for the smaller elements.

I’ve played along with the bingo board at Back to Basics and Beyond using the centre column.  I’ve coloured my image in shades of blue, stamped in some flowers and added pearls for the flower centres.

While I’ve not got a real butterfly I do have a butterfly girl so I’m also linking my card up at Stamps & Fun = Creativity.

…where would we put the holes?

I’ve got a fun card to share featuring one of the cute penguins from the Penguin Farts set that was in the January Paper Door kit from Whimsy Stamps.

This card is going to a male friend and these penguins are perfect for those hard to design male cards.  Keeping it CAS I followed the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch for my layout.  I echoed the icing on my donut stack, a digi from Vanilla Arts, in my layers of cardstock to add interest to the layout.

Over at Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Edna has gone on a diet to shed the Christmas kilos.  My penguin sure looks like he could stand to lose his paunch but if you can’t cheat on your diet on your birthday it just wouldn’t be fair, right?

The Crafter’s Café now offers two themes for each challenge, one of them this time is birds, the other is CAS using blue.  I definitely have a bird and my card is CAS but there’s only a snippet of blue so not sure I quite nailed both themes but luckily you only have to do one theme to enter.

My card is also my first as a DT member at Bizzy Bec’s and my contribution to this month’s challenge.  The prize is a stamp or die chosen by Bec.  You can easily double up on challenges with the always anything goes theme, maybe even playing along with one of the challenges I have.
