Like the mellow ray of a departing sun…

Sharing a CAS card featuring one of the images and sentiments from the now retired Beach Happy set by Stampin’ Up!.

I needed to make a retirement card for a male colleague and was in need of inspiration so I turned to the challenge blogs and, as usual, I found some.  First up was Addicted to CAS and their silhouette challenge, which, when combined with the black and white and a splash of colour challenge at Creative Friday had me digging through my stamps for this deck chair image.  I used a circle die to create a stencil to add in the sun for my splash of colour and then did the rest in the requisite black.

For my layout I followed the current sketch at The Paper Players.  It gave me the opportunity to frame the silhouetted image adding some interest to my otherwise quite simple card.  Although CAS I love the pop of yellow and think it turned out pretty good.

There is no such thing as gratitude unexpressed

Sharing another thank you card, this one features one of the images from the Papertrey Ink set Orchid Expressions.

This is a fab layering stamp set that lets you build as much of the complete image, a lovely orchid spray in a pot with a bamboo stake, as you want.  For this I used just the orchid spray itself and did the orchid in shades of yellow as I used the colour palette over at Sunday Stamps.

You need to use a minimum of three colours from the palette so on top of the yellow and orange on my flowers I’ve also used some of the greens on my stencilled background.  I then used yellow and green again in my mats.

The layout of my card is from the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, where I’ve just made it under the wire to enter.  I had to make the main element a bit smaller because I wanted to use up a scrap of stamping paper rather than cut into a whole new sheet.

Given my bright colours and flower image along with the cute bee charm I think this is a very spring inspired card so I am also linking it up at Sparkles Monthly for their current spring themed challenge.

…who has done a lot for you

Another CAS thank you card, this one featuring an old stamp from Heartfelt Creations from their Blazing Poppy Petals set.

My layout this time comes from the Fusion sketch and I am also playing the inspiration image as I’ve used a poppy.  It seemed fitting as ANZAC Day is all about remembering and being thankful for the sacrifices of other and this is a thank you card for someone who truly has gone above and beyond for a stranger.

I added in the stripe element with some paint splatters so I could also play along at Inkspirational.  I chose a lovely blue to give me the showers element for the Allsorts theme so I’m rocking both the flowers and showers.
