Beauty is a nectar which intoxicates the soul

Sharing a CAS card featuring a beautiful stencil from Funky Fossil Designs called Elegant Lady and a sentiment from the Sprinkles and Smiles set by Penny Black.

I loved this stencil the first time I saw it on an entry to a challenge.  And that’s another reason I love challenges, they enable you with new crafty prettiness.  So not only do you get so much inspiration from the theme, from the DT and also from other crafters who enter you get to add to your stash!

My card follows the layout of the current sketch at Sketch Saturday.  I’ve used the stencilled face as the main circle element and added in the rectangle element with a swish of ink.  I embossed the sentiment before adding in my ink stripe and finished off with Kaisercraft Sparklets for the five smaller circles in the sketch.

I wanted to play along at The Paper Girls with their sparkle and shine theme so I went over the stencilled image with Wink of Stella.  I also added some mica to the ink for the pink stripe and the embossing powder I used has a lovely shine to it.  It’s also the reason I went with Sparklets rather than pearls for the smaller circles.

Over at Crazy4Challenges they are celebrating and my card is celebrating a friends birthday.  And the sparkle and shine are just perfect for a celebration for what’s a party without a bit of glitter?!

Sharing a fun card I made with an image from Just Ink Lined called Cycling Star available from Splash Crafts.

This card was made for one of my staff who has recently got into cycling and rides into work every day.  So I’ve coloured up my cycling star in colours that match the recipient’s cycle gear and added in stubble like he sports.

I kept this card very CAS and kept everything down in the bottom of the card so I could play along at AAA Cards for their up to one third challenge.  I left the sky a simply blue cardstock (white space doesn’t always have to be white!) and fussy cut my rider.  As this is a top folded card, I trimmed the top layer to expose the bottom piece of cardstock and layered up some washi tape to give the impression of a road.  I finished off with a fun chippie from Make it Crafty that I coloured up in red for contrast and doused in clear embossing powder to give it a lovely shiny enamel shape finish.

Over at the Alphabet Challenge they are looking for projects with vehicles so I am entering my human powered vehicle over there.  At CAS on Friday their current theme is birthday so I’m also linking up there.

…just a little bit of pixie dust

Sharing another little girl card, this time using one of the stamps that came in the December My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts.

Went for some lovely shades of pink on this card and the partial die cut technique Jennifer McGuire shared with this kit that caused me to need to buy it!  If you’ve never checked out Jennifer’s blog you really must, she does some beautiful things and is very generous in sharing her techniques via very informative videos.

I’ve followed the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch for my layout.  I used the partially cut fairy and dandelions for the vine element exposing the lovely sparkly pink cardstock that came in the My Monthly Hero Kit I layered under my water colour paper top layer.

Was going to be really good and play the twist at Seize the Birthday but couldn’t help myself and added the chippie for my sentiment.  Love Make it Crafty chippies and this one is a great example of why, the open spaces mean you can layer it over an image without obscuring too much of the image.  And they are cream so colour up beautifully, this one got a dose of glitter embossing powder over the top of some Distress Ink.  I should add I’m not on the Make it Crafty DT or an affiliate or anything, just really love the designs and supporting a fellow Aussie woman.

Over at A Blog Named Hero they’ve got an anything goes challenge on so, as my card features a Hero Arts stamp, matching dies, and cardstock, I’m also linking it up there.
