The sun was shining on the sea...

I’ve got a fun card to share today featuring the summery sweet Sand Castle Betty from Simply B Stamps.

As per usual I coloured up my image without any plan in mind for my card, I also printed it with a few others so it was rough cut from a bigger sheet of card.  Luckily I had a Nestie that fit round it but I did end up with sand on the embossed border so I just went with that and filled in the gaps and coloured up my sky to the very edge too.  I used chalk for the sky to give a more subtle finish and although I usually fussy cut my images I’m glad I had enough space left to not have to with this one as I actually like how it’s been framed.

To make up my card I followed the sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2, it was full of layering goodness and I really went to town with them to help create a beachy feel to my card.  Now I did swap out one of the four embellies on the bottom as I have an aversion to the number four and it would have left me with only one of the embellies I used and what would I have done with just one.  Also, it let me add in the cute die cut lighthouse.

The current challenge over at Simply Create Too is for at least two layers, I have no less than six (not counting the base card) so I’m also entering this over there.

Just tea for two, and two for tea

I’ve got an old favourite from Simply B Stamps to share today, Rio N Toots Tea Party.

I’ve kept my card with them fairly CAS as this is going to a colleague who isn’t into fussy and frilly stuff.  Luckily the sketch at Sketch Saturday this week worked perfectly for a CAS style card.  I resized it to a 6x6 card and flipped it so I have an oval instead of a circle.  To echo the feathers in Rio’s hair I’ve swapped out the star element for a peacock feather, it adds a touch of elegance I think.

I didn’t want my card to be too plain and what better way to add some interest without fuss than with some texture so I’ve gone with some Dotted Swiss cardstock.  Polka dots are always striking so I’ve also used designer paper with polka dots.  As such, I’m entering this in the current challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks.

The current alcohol marker challenge theme at Outlawz is “keep calm and…” and what better way to finish that sentence than with “have some tea”, so I am entering my card there.

...the night sky as the canvas

It’s challenge time at Simply Challenged Challenges and we have a really easy theme for you, anything goes, for which I’ve made a card featuring Rocket Betty from the 4th of July Betty Boo collection at Simply B Stamps.

To make up my card I’ve followed the current sketch at Friday Sketch, I love all the layers that let me show off a whole lot of starry papers.  Some Bling on a Roll added just the right amount of, well, bling given I had all that lovely glitter on the papers I used.

We don’t celebrate 4th of July here in Australia so I steered away from a total red, white and blue colour scheme but couldn’t stay away from it completely.  I think the blue behind Rocket Betty looks great though and with it, I am entering this in the current Kit and Clowder challenge.  Scrapping4fun has an anything goes challenge on at the moment so I am also linking this over there.

…no friend as loyal as a book

Today I’m sharing a cute little bookmark I made featuring Don’t Forget Your Lunch from the Rio N’ Toots’ collection from Simply B Stamps.

The images in this collection are drawn by Betty inspired by her daughter Rio, who just happens to be a bookworm so what better way to feature the image than on a bookmark.  I cut the image in two to have one on either side of the bookmark, gotta love Betty’s images for their versatility!

My bookmark follows the current sketch over at Papertake Weekly, I just stretched it to be the right shape for a bookmark.  Now you need some ribbon on a bookmark, at least I think you do to easily find it in your book, and I’ve had this awesome skull ribbon in my stash for a while.  With it I am entering this in the current Left of Center challenge, luckily it’s an and/or challenge as flowers would’ve made the bookmark too fat.

I’m also entering this in the current Craftitude challenge where I’ve got all the possible themes covered.  It’s anything goes, easily covered that one, or add a brad, I have two although I wish I’d had a cute skull rather than the hearts but you just gotta roll with what’s in your stash sometimes, or eyelet, got that too which is under the ribbon.
