Mine eyes dazzle

I’m sharing a card featuring the new and gorgeous Duchess Betty from Simply B Stamps.

The layout of my card comes from the current sketch at Sketchy Colors, in keeping with the lacy ruffles on Duchess Betty’s dress I’ve swapped out the long rectangular element for some lovely lace.  I also swapped out the smaller oval for a floral element instead.

Over at Cut It Up! their current theme is romance, which this image certainly is and I have the three elements they require (flowers, lace and pearls plus a die cut, I’ve got two) so I’m entering my card there.

I love a tic tac toe challenge to help get a card completed so I’ve played along with the current one at Our Creative Corner and gone for a diagonal line featuring embossing powder, a stamps (the beautiful image) and some lace.

Well now if you’ve got a cutie who’s a real sweet petutie…

This new Lola Western Cutie image from Simply B Stamps I have on my card is a real sweet petutie, don’t you agree?

I loved colouring the folds in her skirt and am really pleased with how she turned out.  I tried a new red combo (see ingredients list below) and I love it, especially teamed with black.

My card layout is from the current sketch at Cheerful Sketches where I swapped out the circle elements for some hearts.  I wanted to use some of my new dies on this, the two scalloped ones are from an Anna Griffin set I picked as this is actually going out to the sweet friend who got the die for me.  The black lace is new and I thought worked perfectly for the horizontal element, the shape suited the western theme and tied in nicely with the image.

Over at Hanna and Friends they have embossing as their theme, I have two kinds on my card.  I’ve got some heat embossing with some Fran-tage to make my sentiment just a little more special and my dies were embossing dies also.

As I have a number of hearts on my card I am also entering this in the current challenge at Live and Love Crafts.

Sweet thief, whence didst thou steal thy sweet…

…cupcake!

The card I’m sharing today features an image from Mo’s Digital Pencil, Cupcake Thief, my first time ever using one of Mo Manning’s gorgeous images.

There’s a new challenge I’m proud to be a DT member of, Show Your Digi Love, where the theme is always anything goes with that month’s chosen digi artists.  It’s all about using the images you have in your stash and showing some love for the artists who created them.  In my case having Mo’s Digital Pencil among the chosen artists for our first challenge was a perfect excuse to go off and buy my very first (and second and third and, well, you get the picture) Mo Manning digi.

To make up my card I followed the current sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2.  As I’d printed and coloured my digi on my usual 4x6 piece of card I was a bit constrained on my circle size choice.  I actually used the largest of the Nestie set and had to use the “out of the box” technique (for a great tut check out the Kraftin’ Kimmie blog post by Becky) to fit the image in.  As a result I ended up shrinking down the other two circle elements.

I swapped out the flower element for a cupcake button from my stash; I also raided my stash for some interesting embellies for the other two circle elements.  As I have three different types of embellishments I am entering this in the current challenge over at Brown Sugar.

Now I don’t really have anything warm on this card, I guess trying to make a quick getaway on foot carrying three very large and tasty cupcakes would get you rather warm, but fortunately the main theme over at Bronte and Bella’s Challenge is anything goes and I do have my Mo Manning image so I’m also entering my card there.

Hope to see you over at Show Your Digi Love, easy peasy anything goes every month and a whole month to enter the challenge.  It’s a just for fun challenge but there are some gorgeous badges to display on your blog if you’re among the DT’s top picks and the overall DT favourite will be asked to guest DT in the next month’s challenge.  It’s a great way to show your love for the artists that make our hobby possible and your financial support (yep we all like a freebie but artists need to eat too!) so they can keep creating their awesome art.

Oh my ears and whiskers…

It’s challenge time over at PunkyouGirl and it’s an easy peasy one of ‘anything goes’ and I’ve used a great image from our sponsor, SLS Lines, called Goth Girl and Rabbit.

To make up my card I’ve followed the current sketch over at Retrosketches.  I just swapped out the butterfly element for my image and mounted my sentiment on a Tim Holtz Tattered Curvy Scroll.  I’ve kept the embellies and papers fairly toned down, one, as this is a ‘darker’ project in the PunkyouGirl style, and, two, I’m thinking this for a male card.

As I’ve got a die cut and the card would suit a male I am entering it in the current challenge at ScrapbookerPhD.  The inside of the card finishes the sentiment for a belated birthday card.  And yes, its supposed to be slightly cheeky with a nod toward the Playboy bunnies given her somewhat provocative pose and as it is for a male.

Now over at Open Minded Crafting they have a theme of ‘new year’s resolutions’ for their current challenge.  Mine is to be on time with my cards this year so how does a belated birthday card fit that theme?  Well, if past years are anything to go by where I’ve made similar resolutions to be on time with my crafting are anything to go by I am going to be raiding my stash for this card when I realise I’ve missed one of my male friend’s birthdays.  I’ll then be glad that I made this resolution and started off so well in having a card at the ready so I’m not quite so late!
