Sometimes a cowgirl has to do what a cowboy can’t

This is sadly my last card as a guest DT for the Outlawz Sketch challenge and it features the fab image, Barn Brat, from this month’s sponsor, The Stamping Chef.

Here’s the awesome sketch for this week.

Notice anything?  Yep, I changed it right up and made a circle card.  That’s what I love about sketches, they are really just a starting point for your creativity and you can change them up how ever you want.  So I decided to get out my Nesties and make a fun circle card, which meant I had to also swap out the rectangle element for an oval.  Wish I had a larger oval but the only set I have larger are ornate and I wanted just a plain one.

The fun wavy elements reminded me so much of rick rack that I just had to use some for them and a spritz of Smooch made my plain white rick rack a lovely cow brown.  With that sheriff’s badge on her hat I had to use some star embellies on this, wish I had enough yellow stars but I only had five so I mixed them up with some blue ones as a neat way to hide the ends of the rick rack.  The current theme at My Sheri Crafts calls for a star on your project so with my six I am also linking up my card there.

Seeing as this is featuring a Stamping Chef image I am also entering their weekly challenge where the theme is always anything goes.  Ive coloured the fun image with, what else, but my Copics.  As they are my favourite colouring medium Im also linking my card at the current Corrosive challenge.

I’ve had a blast being part of the awesome DT at the Outlawz Sketch for this month, thanks ladies for having me as a guest.  I will definitely be back entering the weekly challenges next week and hope you’ll come join the fun too.

Just a mean green mother from outer space…

Well maybe Seymour 2 is but not pretty little Betty, at least not this one from Simply B Stamps, the new Betty and Seymour 2 image released today.

I had to Google the movie for some inspiration as it’s been years since I saw it and then I had to challenge myself to do a platinum blonde, I think she turned out rather well.  With the whole botanical theme, the 7 Dots Studio paper I had in my stash was just perfect while a touch of Antique Linen Distress Ink brought my other papers up to the right tone.  And how could I use anything but that awesome Flourish with a Bling vine as an embellie?

To make up my card I used the current sketch at the Outlawz Wednesday Sketch challenge.  I am so glad I joined Outlawz as I love their sketches.  So while this isn’t my favourite sketch, I don’t have one those, Outlawz is definitely my favourite place for finding the perfect sketch, I’ve used every one since I joined.  So I am linking this up at Top Tip Tuesday for their current challenge.

With my digi image I am also entering this at My Sheri Crafts’ current challenge.  And how stinking cute is this image?

Metal Boy

Today’s project is another tag, this time featuring the super cute Power Suit Oscar from the Jude and the Rockers’ Little Hero collection from Simply B Stamps.

I’ve used a Ranger #5 tag as my base and the layout is the current sketch at Sketch Saturday.  I did move the sentiment down into the bottom corner in order to make room for Oscar and added in some Halloween metal and epoxy gem thingies from CTMH instead of stars.  I tried to place the big one so it looked a bit like that’s what Oscar is holding up with his Iron Man power.

The current challenge at Hiding in My Craft Room is to use your scraps, being so small a tag I was able to raid my scrap pile for the papers.  This is a good thing as I tend to just add to the pile never take from it!  There was a strip of Frightful paper (the orange) just the right width for the tag so I just cut the right length off it.  The blue background paper was also a scrap, I’ve still got half a sheet of it in the scrap pile so plenty more starry opportunities with that one!

The current challenge theme at My Sheri Crafts is “night time”, I always think super heroes come out at night and with my dark blue and starry background I think this counts as a night time scene.  Even the orange paper (when you raid your scrap bin you’ve got to go with the flow) has speckles on it that are reminiscent of stars so I’m working with it being like a belt of stars like the Milky Way or such like and that Jude is flying.  Does Iron Man fly?  I haven’t seen the movie but I figure he has to or he isn’t really a super hero!

Warað Hine Wræclast

It’s challenge time again at Simply Challenged Challenges and this time the theme is layers.  My card features Jude Spook from the awesome A Roberts Halloween collection at Simply B Stamps, a gorgeous collection of Betty’s family all dressed up for Halloween as drawn by the talented Abigail Larson.

For my layers I decided to try distressing, I have a distressing tool somewhere packed away so I had to stick with a file (the round one I use to sharpen my scissors) and an emery board.  The ‘dirty’ look to the Black Widow paper collection from We R Memory Keepers worked well for the feel I was going for with my card.  I’ve also got layers on my flower, which actually started out life looking quite pretty but which I also distressed.  I couldn’t get the file to do much on the thick mulberry paper so I snipped the edges of the petals with scissors then attacked them with the file before spritzing with Smooch and adding Distress Ink to the edges.

To make up my card I followed the current sketch at Feeling Sketchy.  With the oranges and browns I’m entering it in the current My Sheri Crafts challenge.  As Jude looks like he could have wandered out of your nightmare I’m also entering my card at the Time 4 Scrap challenge.

And, in case you’re wondering, the title of my post is a quote from the Anglo-Saxon poem, The Wanderer, with his pumpkin light and long cloak Jude reminded me of a wanderer out alone in the dark so the quote seemed quite fitting.
