All in

I made this card for a friend’s birthday coming up this weekend.

The title is apt as it contains a whole lot of references to things he likes, starting with playing cards for the poker he loves to play.  They are Tim Holtz embossing folders, the Poker Face set.  I inked them with Tim Holtz Distress Inks, in Black Soot and Forest Berries.

All of the cuts are from the CTMH Art Philosophy cart, which I recently bought.  It was so great to be able to make a card with so many different cuts without having to change carts.  My friend is a Red Sox fan, hence the ticket to a game and the baseball brad.

He also loves Lego, I think he’d have a ton of the stuff even if his young son wasn’t into it!  So I had to buy the Lego brads and pop one on.

The stamp is from Stampin’ Up and I stamped it on a tag cut.  The brads are a bit big but they go through the two tag ends.  The black tag wasn’t going to show up too well on the black background so I inked the edges with the same Versacolor ink I used to stamp the sentiment.

I curled the ribbon cut to add a bit more dimension but found the adhesive wasn’t enough to hold the ends down so I used a couple of white brads.  I also used 3D Zots to add dimension on the playing cards, the Jack is adhered flat to the card, the King is adhered with a single Zot and the Queen has two Zots on top of each other.

I chose to go with red and black to mirror the colours of playing cards and broke it up with white.  As always I followed a sketch from Raq’s challenge on the Cricut MB, this one was up a few weeks back but I only just got the card finished.

I’m really happy with how this card turned out, I haven’t made a lot of guy cards but using things my friend likes as the inspiration really helped.

Thanks for stopping by!
