North Pole or Bust

With hardly any days left of the year I finally have my last two Christmas cards to show, these ones feature Santa’s Helper Rio from Simply B Stamps.

I forgot to add a sentiment before I printed these out so I had to write it in after but the slightly shaky writing suits the slightly tatty look of Rio and the theme of her hitching her way back to Santa’s workshop.  Notice something else about the green version?  Yep, no image.  I had all my supplies laid out on my table last night, I swear I had a red and green version of Rio but when I went to make up my cards today the green Rio had disappeared.  I turned my craft room upside down looking for her, the room is now clean but she is no where to be found.  Either she’s run off with Merry Betty and they’ve having a good time together or else there are gremlins in my craft room trying to send me mad.  Too bad for them I already am!  I'm still working on the recolouring of the green Rio luckily I am hand delivering these two cards.

The cards follow the sketch at A Die for Sketch, which, as the name suggests, also calls for a die cut to be used.  I’ve cut all three main elements to the sketch using dies.  The designer papers are all old and the gems are from my stash too, I rediscovered the red ones in time for my late Christmas card making and the green ones were a complete sheet too that I had to dig through my entire stash to find, I’d almost given up thinking I actually had any green ones.

Now fades the last long streak of snow…

I’m still ploughing through my Christmas cards and the images I coloured last year to make cards, these two feature Rio and Frosty from Simply B Stamps.

I’ve followed the sketch at Your Next Stamp to make up the cards, flipping the sketch for one of the cards.  There was also an inspiration photo to follow, I’ve chosen the snowflake from it and picked paper from my stash with snowflakes.  With the designer paper I’ve chosen I didn’t actually need any embellies.  I’ve also let the image take the place of the oval element in the sketch.  The image is kinda oval in shape, well, maybe an oval that’s enjoyed a big Christmas dinner!
Over at the Flying Unicorn Forum they’re running a use your stash challenge to help clear our craft spaces for all the new goodies 2014 will bring.  The paper used on the project needs to be at least a year old.  So I went Googling to find out when the BoBunny Noel and Graphic 45 Christmas Past collections came out, I had no idea how long they’d had been in my stash or even where they came from.  Turns out the BoBunny is from 2011 and the Graphic 45 from 2010 (or maybe 2009) so they certainly meet the challenge requirement so I’m also linking my cards up there.

A Rippa of a Christmas

Another pair of belated Christmas cards, these ones feature another Teen Scene Jolly Christmas image from Simply B Stamps, Rip it Open Rio.

For these two cards I’ve followed a sketch from Stamps & Fun = Creativity, again I did the flip thing to get two same but different cards.  I did switch out the circle element for an ornament shaped one to better suit my Christmas theme.  As the papers have quite busy patterns I haven’t added any extra bling, other than to the top of the ornaments.

Being Christmas cards I’m also entering these over at Craftyhazelnut’s Christmas Challenge Extra, where it’s anything goes.

O Christmas Tree

More of my last minute cards featuring some images I helpfully had coloured up from last year when I failed to make any cards at all.  These cards feature Rio Trimming the Tree from the vaults of Simply B Stamps.

Again I’ve production lined my card making using a sketch from Sketch N Stash, flipping it to make the second card with the flipped image.  The paper I used was full of fun elements so I chose not to embellish the cards further but I did add bling to the images.  This was to cover the spiders and skulls, while I’d happily leave them on a card for myself, these cards aren’t going to those with the same macbre tastes but that’s the great thing about bling, it can turn any image into something different to suit a different taste.  The bling is all from my stash (old) and the BoBunny paper is new so I’ve got both twists of the stash element covered.

When it comes to decorating for Christmas I am a traditionalist so the main decoration is the tree with the extra special old star that tops it.  So in keeping with the current theme at Card Crafter’s Circle, my card features an image of someone, in this case Rio, trimming a tree.
