Swirly Curly Kitty

For the Simply Betty Fan Page challenge this month Betty gave us fans this awesome digi of her sister, Elaine, to play with.

When I took a photo of my card the kitty cat looked almost white and the rest is all a bit off colour so here’s a close-up of the detail of the front.
I decided to use her on a twisted easel card and took inspiration from a simply gorgeous card by Jenny at Jennifer D’s, go and check it out and the rest of her wonderful creations.

The challenge required ribbons and swirls so I loaded up on both with paper that has swirls on it, swirly die cuts and crystal flourishes and loads of beautiful ribbon I got at my LSS, The Crafter’s Haven.  I’m also trying my hand at multiple challenges, to make life more interesting, so I went with the colour purple for my card to match the theme at Crafty Catz for their challenge 180 – the colour purple, used several die cuts (not just the swirly) for the Stampin’ for the Weekend die cuts and/or punches challenge, added a couple of gorgeous blingy buttons for the Digi Haven use a button challenge and finally made this into a special birthday card (but shhh, I can’t say for who) for the Fairytale challenge #66 – a very special occasion.

Morella Momento

Today’s post is a special one; it’s my first as a design team member for Simply Steampunk Challenges.  And I have a simply gorgeous image to share with you, from the Simply Betty Stamps' Classic Collection Steampunks, The Child of Morella.

To remember my time on the design team I am going to make a series of projects to go inside a Graphic 45 altered art box, using each month’s release images.  The box came with a kraft accordion album inside, I’ve just cut the pages so I could embellish them.  On the back of each I’m going to add the details of the post and my ingredient list.

Chocolate Thief

So ages ago the challenge on the Simply Betty Fan Page was to do a non-traditional Easter colours Easter card.  I did a box holder with Bunny Ears Scott but I also had another image in the series, Bunny Ears Judy, and I coloured her up too.  Well I finally got my butt in gear and put her on a card tonight and here she is.

I am the Queen of the Last Minute and this really is a last minute entry for the Simply Challenged Challenges’ current Easter challenge.  I checked out some other challenge sites at the same time for some added inspiration, I already had pink on Judy’s dress and the Hybrid Chicks’ current colour challenge also gave me turquoise (at least that’s what the background paper looks to me!) and the colour carnation, which looks like the card blank I used, although it’s hard to see it as I left only a small frame around my background paper.  And finally, the Pile It On #16 challenge colour inspiration gave me green, which all led me to the background paper and to colouring the sentiment egg in pink with turquoise and green spots.

To add a bit of interest I decoupaged the egg banner and rounded the sentiment egg and Judy so they would pop off the page.

Simply Sweet

This is a fairly simple birthday card I made for a colleague, no embellishments and fuss as this one is for a guy.  I followed a sketch from The Sweet Stop for their SSS207-Sketch with a Spin challenge.  The spin was to make a birthday card.
I decided to leave the front with just the cupcake and stamped my sentiment on the inside instead.

Curiouser and Curiouser

I made this shape card for a colleague who is off on a secondment.  It features the very cute Cheshire Cat Betty image from Simply Betty Stamps’ recent Mad Tea Party release.
The card shape is the Mad Hatter’s hat, which I just cut by hand, and wrapped with some ribbon.  I printed the sentiment on some white card to use instead of the 10/6 card in the real Hatter’s hat.  The sentiment follows through into the inside.
With all the green on this one I’m going to enter it over at 2 Sisters Challenge Blog in their current colour challenge.

Fashionably Late

This card is fashionably late for a friend’s birthday, well, so the card is late and the image is sporting a bit of 1920’s fashion.  He’s 1920’s Kody from Some Odd Girl.  I followed the sketch at April's sketch challenge over at the Some Odd Girl blog.

As this card is for a guy I kept it pretty simple and just used the elements from the sketch as the embellishments.  I didn’t have a stamp that would fit in the pennant diecuts so I just used some rub-ons for the ‘HbB’, which stands for Happy belated Birthday.

In the Arms of an Angel

I made these two cards following the same design and using the same beautiful image from Simply B Stamps, the Angel Betty drew in honour of the Newtown school shooting tragedy late last year.  The sentiment also came with the image and, as I needed sympathy cards it was ideal so I merged the two in Photoshop and printed them together.

I kept the colours muted and the embellishments low-key also, in keeping with the purpose of these cards.  I used the same paper roses on the inside but I only had two of the black buttons so instead I used a single flower cut from a lace chain.  I added another sentiment of sympathy on the inside to finish off the cards.

I’m entering these into the Perfect Sentiments current challenge.
