…of my lost love

I have a bit of a different project today, this will form one page in my new Tim Holtz folio collection and it features the stunning Ligeia image drawn by Abigail Larson and available at Simply B Stamps.

Over time I hope to fill my folio with pages featuring other images inspired by the writing of Edgar Allan Poe, the cover will feature the author himself.  Fortunately both Abigail and Betty are Poe fans so there are a range of images among the many Steampunk collections at Simply B Stamps.

Quoth the Raven’s current challenge is Poe-Cabulary requiring a project inspired by Poe’s writing.  You can’t get more inspired than a page from a book of Poe, which is what my project is.  The image is from the short story Ligeia and I have coloured it based on the description in the story, I just wasn’t game to try and draw in the jetty black arabesque figures but I did soften the cloth of gold walls with some grey chalk to give the impression of ghastly lustre from the leaden window pane.  There wasn’t a description of the colour of the gown Rowena wore so I went with blue and I didn’t go over her with the chalk so she would stand out from the rest of the scene.

The current theme at SanDee & amelie’s challenge is your favourite technique.  Not sure I can pick between distressing and Fran-taging so I’ve got both on this project.  I love how just a subtle use of Fran-tage adds so much pop to a project and I have a real thing for distressing.  I don’t distress every project I do, I love to mix things up and use different styles, but I do go through distressing phases.  I think there will be a fair bit of both distressing and Fran-taging in my little book of Poe when it is eventually finished.

PunkyouGirl’s current challenge is lavish lace and I have both real lace and a lace die cut so I am also entering this over there.
