… the two sweetest passions known to man

Showing a tag today I’ve made playing along with Tim’s 12 Tags of 2015, this one is based on the September inspiration.

So I had none of the products needed to make the background Tim used which meant I had to improvise.  I had Specialty Stamping Paper, which is glossy, and I had Various Inks so I figured they’d do the trick.  I swirled some Various Inks on my craft sheet and then spritzed with alcohol then dragged my piece of Stamping Paper through it and heat set.  I’m reasonably happy with the result but then I am never 100% happy with this sort of background technique.  With my non-white background to my stamping I am entering my tag in the current challenge at Sweet Stampin’.

Also had to improvise on the stamps as I don’t have all that many of Tim’s…yet!  I did have some butterflies though, mixed two different sets and decided to try something a bit different and throw over some Perfect Pearls to give the butterflies a bit of sparkle.  As I have three butterflies on it I am entering it over at Addicted to Stamps for their current challenge.

Given this is for a bookmark, I took one of Tim’s stamps I had and stamped on the back of the tag and threw some Fran-tage around to give it some interest.  I picked the sentiment as it best suited a bookmark, after all you find all sorts of inspiration in books.  I also picked the Word Band I used to match my theme of inspiration and imagination, which books simply overflow with.

My soul is in the sky

I’m sharing a card today featuring Lucy Loo Magnified Star from The East Wind.

I needed a card for a friend’s birthday and wasn’t sure what image to use until I saw the current challenge at Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers was P is for Punk...Steampunk that is.  Now Edna is not a woman to be gainsaid and really, it’s been way too long since I got my Steampunk on so I just knew I had to play along.  I was going to use another image but went with this one as the recipient’s nickname is K-Star (don’t ask me why, it’s just how she rolls).  No snark to this card though, not that I didn’t try but after fruitless Googling for ideas I finally admitted defeat on some snarky pun about steam or smoke.

To make up my card I’ve followed the current sketch at Die Sketchtanten.  It was looking a bit plain so I kind of went to town with my flowers.

I picked my colours by playing along with the Tic Tac Toe game at Vintage Stamping, where I’ve gone with people (my image), metal (the cool embellies from Tim Holtz) and, of course, the colours scheme of blue and brown.  I really like how this turned out, not too girlie but pretty in lovely muted colours, a lot like K-Star herself.

The butterfly long loved the beautiful rose…

My card today features the elegantly beautiful Cameo 14 from Fitztown.

I’ve made this card for a friend’s birthday and, as she is more elegant than alternate, I’ve turned what looked like a tattoo into body jewellery through some very fiddly paper tole.  Not to set myself too easy a task I also paper tolled the tiny butterfly in her hair, very fiddly stuff indeed!

I started out with the image in mind and then used the photo inspiration from Live and Love Crafts to help me decorate my card.  The palette of browns and creams from the photo gave a lovely vintage feel to the card and I picked up the pink in my butterflies.  I used the roses themselves in my floral embellies.  I also used the lace and various trims as inspiration to add to my embellies.

At Paradise of Stamps, they are looking for ribbon, lace and pearls, all of which I have covered.  I added tiny pearls to both butterflies for their bodies and also twisted some Memory Thread around some pearl trim to put round my flowers.  There was a lot of space in the lace I used so I threaded through some ribbon and finished off with three large pearls (just realised they look like metal screws in the photo!).

My card follows the current sketch at Sparkles Monthly.  I decided not to cut paper for the round element but instead made this from flowers coloured with PanPastels.  I nestled a butterfly I punched with my new Tim Holtz punch among the flowers to break up the browns and also to tie in with the image.

’Cause I can bop, honey bop…

Today I’m sharing a card featuring Rockabilly Rhonda by Concetta Kilmer of Enchanted Design Studio.

I’ve made this card for a friend’s sister following the current sketch over at Cheerful Sketches.  As my card has lots of young adult elements from my “cool” chick image to the graffiti on the brick wall (it actually says ‘happy birthday Melissa) I’m entering this in Dream Factory’s current challenge.

Over at Chocolate, Coffee & Cards they are celebrating their 100th challenge with a celebration theme.  I can’t say I’ve played along with every one of their challenges (I haven’t been crafting that long!) but I have played along with a few so am joining this one with my card celebrating a birthday.
