I’ve made it just under the wire with this month’s Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016.
For each month I have been adding my own twist by matching a seasonal event here in Australia and this month we celebrate the Queen’s birthday, never mind that her birthday is actually in April! In keeping with that theme, for my stencil plaid technique I used blue and red ink (from the royal arms) and cut a silhouette of Queen Elizabeth II with my Cameo.
The only Tissue Wrap I had to do the tissue wrap collage technique was the Postale one and I didn’t have time (or the crafty budget) for the new plain one. It’s probably a bit too busy but sometimes you just have to work with what you have. I tried to have the ‘telegram’ word printed on it showing (a nod to the telegram you get from the Queen for your 100th birthday) but made the cut shape too large, although it was still a bit painful getting all the tiny pieces cut cleanly.
For embellies I’ve added some Tim Holtz Idea-ology Adornments with suitably royal designs, a crown placed on a piece of the plaid that shows a red cross, like the English flag, and a fleur-de-lis from the royal arms.
I’ve also coloured up a pair of Heirloom Roses to look like Tudor roses. The sentiment I picked from the Chit Chat stickers reflects the centuries of royalty and the beliefs that attended them, essentially ordinary people entrusted with and believed to have extraordinary powers. I’ve finished off my tag with some satin ribbon printed with Union Jacks from my stash.
Over at A Gem of a Challenge they are looking for projects that aren’t cards so I am linking my tag up there. And at Glitter 'N' Sparkle they are looking specifically for tags, which I have made so I am also entering my tag there.
