I’m sharing a
card I made using 40’s Fashion from Saturated Canary.
The layout of my
card follows the current sketch at the Noor! Design FB challenge group, where
you also need to use the specified die, which I fortunately had in my
stash. I loved the sketch but wasn’t too
sure where I wanted to go with it so I looked to challenges for inspiration.
The picture of
lots of lovely golden brown cookies over at If You Give a Crafter a Cookie inspired
my colour choice for the monochromatic challenge at A Vintage Journey. I wasn’t too sure about the two thin
horizontal bits until I saw the Fussy and Fancy theme was flowers and lace. I had the flowers so used lace for the
horizontal bits with a second layer of trim and then added in some Prills for
added interest and to tie back to the brown of my monochrome colour scheme.
I wondered how
I was going to keep with all brown for the flowers until I saw at Noor! Design UK they are looking for chippies. Raiding
my very large chippie collection I found an old Leaky Shed one with flowers,
leaves and swirls. I cut this up and
added Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Powder to make it brown then coloured up
some flowers brown and added them on top.
This card is
going out to a colleague who is turning 40.
I couldn’t find anything in my stash to make the 40 from but wanted to
use one of the Typo Zippers I had. So I scrubbed
the word off of it using alcohol and then added the 40 with a Remnant Rub. I did up the sentiment on my computer and then
die cut it as the last element and to further to personalise my card.
