Sharing a card featuring a fab image from the sadly closed Saturated Canary called Honor.

For my layout I’ve followed the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I swapped out the leaf element for my image and printed the long thin rectangle straight to my top piece of cardstock.  I printed a sentiment that’s a running joke with the recipient and our fellow ‘KFC Club’ members.  Because I wanted to get that in, I essentially shifted the sentiment to being part of the rectangle design element and skipped out on a larger sentiment, even though this is actually a birthday card.

I die cut a circle around my image rather than fussy cutting it so that I could play along at Addicted to CAS.  But I also left the image to hang off the edge of the die cut to fit the current theme at My Time To Craft.

The card was starting to do the rounds of the club members at work today (yes, some of us are still keeping things going even amid all this chaos) and has gone down a treat.  Although the recipient isn’t known for her archery skills, she is known for her very pink skirts and lovely black hair that’s always beautifully styled.

Nothing’s too gnarly

Sharing a card I made for my nephew featuring a fun stamp called Skater by the now closed Saturated Canary.

The layout follows the current sketch at AAA Cards, which I flipped on its side.  For the rectangular elements I used washi tape so I could also play along at Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge.  Luckily, I had a roll of washi with ‘Happy birthday’ printed on it so that took care of my sentiment as well.  I teamed it with two different patterned tapes to echo graphics on skateboards and tie in with my image.

Over at The Crafter’s Café they want you to layer it up or keep it CAS with some yellow.  I’ve a splash of yellow and am CAS but I’ve actually played the layer it up half of the challenge.  I love adding layers of cardstock to my cards for weight and interest.  On this card I have four plus the card base and then the layer of washi and finally the stamp fussy cut and layered on top.

Sharing a card I made for a friend’s 40^th birthday featuring an image from the now closed Saturated Canary called 70’s Vibe.

The layout for my card comes from the sketch over at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday. To keep with my 70’s theme I went with a less typical shape to die cut the image, swapping the oval in the sketch for a curvy square.  I edged the die cut in gold glitter embossing powder and went to town with the gold glittery accents on the card as well.  Used a couple of different sparkle pens on her top to add a glittery 70’s feel to it also.

I wanted to play along at Incy Wincy Designs in their create your own background challenge but decided it might be a bit too lairy to do the whole card base in a 70’s inspired pattern.  So, instead, I just did up a piece for the rectangular element in the sketch.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Markers to colour through the mini version of his Rosette stencil.  I then spritzed it, with the stencil still in place, with some Resist Spray.  Finished off with a layer or Distress Ink for a lovely colourful pattern.

To finish off my card I added in a sentiment using an Altenew die cut, which I double cut and layered, and stamps from Mama Elephant and Birch Press Designs.  As I have a few die cuts on my card I am also entering it at The Paper Girls for their current challenge.

Love how this card turned out and think it captures the style of the 70s really well.  Just hope my fellow 70’s flowerchild friend likes it too.
