I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields…

It’s pouring here so I’m taking the opportunity to catch up on my Christmas cards and this one features a lovely retired stamp from Stampin’ Up! called Scenic Scene.

My card follows the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, which I rotated to fit my stamp.  Over at Season’s Greetings they are looking for embossing so I took that cue to add in some of my background design elements, namely the two banners.  I stamped them using Tim’s Linen stamp from the Mesh & Linen set and then sprinkled with clear embossing powder to give some texture.

The main stamp was done the same way, stamped then doused in clear embossing powder.  This technique dulled the Encore! gold ink a lot, which I actually quite like with the muted greens I used.  But, as the current challenge at Daring Cardmakers calls for green with a glimmer of gold I thought I’d add another mat behind the main image in gold cardstock (which, of course, doesnt show up very well at all in the photo!).  I decided to add in the blue sky to help the image really pop and then added a dusting of ‘snow’ with some chunky white Fran-tage.

Have to say I am really chuffed with how this card turned out.  Glad I did add in the sky, love the pop of blue.
