And I had but one penny in the world

I’m sharing my latest Christmas card featuring the cute Gingerbread House from Pink Gem Designs.

For my layout I’ve followed the current sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches where I’ve flipped the sketch on its side to fit the shape of my image.  I’m not sure I’ve kept this strictly CAS with the use of the designer paper, I didn’t really think about that until I’d done up the card.  Given the image I chose I thought the gingerbread designer paper fitted nicely and I do love the tones of brown.  I even snuck in a shaker element on the thin rectangle element although sadly I didn’t have any gingerbread confetti to fill it with.

My image was chosen based on the photo inspiration over at Christmas Card Challenges.  I coloured up the digi with watercolours, which I think worked well for gingerbread.  To create more of a scene I added in some Tinsel Glitter for grass and some Chunky Embossing Enamel for snow.  The roof was too small to try and get any glitter on the ‘gumdrops’ so I coloured those with Twinkling H2Os and also did the icing in the same.  Finally I added in a holly and berry embellie instead of the small square element in the sketch, which neatly hid the smudging on my watercolour (must remember to not lean hand on wet watercolouring!).

Over at ABC Christmas they are looking projects that feature ‘H’ for ‘Home’ or ‘I’ for ‘Informal’.  So I am also entering my card in the challenge with my little gingerbread house as a cosy Christmassy ‘home’.
