…she is fierce

Sharing a card today featuring the sweet Teen Fairy Mia from Mo’s Digital Pencil.

The layout of the card follows the current card sketch over at Feeling Sketchy.  For the horizontal element at the bottom I’ve added in some sequins and gems to substitute for a trail of fairy dust.  My colour scheme comes from the current palette at Color Throwdown, it worked beautifully for a fairy image.  I coloured up the gorgeous fairy from Mo with my watercolours, printed on a piece large enough to save any fussy cutting as she has some wee little bits that would challenge even the most seasoned fussy cutter!

I went with the fairy image as the current theme over at Fussy and Fancy is for things with wings.  Hoping this isn’t then too young for my niece who is turning 14 although Mia is a teenage fairy after all.

…find somebody whose life has given them vodka…

Sharing a quick CAS card I did up for a friend’s birthday featuring stamps from the Lemon Zest set by Stampin’ Up! and the matching punch.

I went with my zesty theme after seeing the colour palette at Color Throwdown.  Stampin’ Up! had the perfect colours in their cardstock and I triple matted in the three palette colours and cut thin strips to create my stripy borders.  These follow the current sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch.

I bought the Lemon Zest bundle so I used the matching Lemon Builder punch to cut out my lemon and the leaves and used clear embossing powder over the coloured ink to give them a lovely, lemon rindy texture.  I masked off part of the sentiment from the Lemon Zest set to add the ‘with zest’ to the lemon.  The ‘birthday’ of my sentiment came from a retired Stampin’ Up! set and I hand wrote the rest of the sentiment with a Distress marker.

I popped the lemon and leaves up with foam dots to add dimension.  Once I was done I thought it still needed something and the current challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks provided the answer in the way of sequins.  I have some lovely yellow sequins that would have been perfect for this but my craft room is literally on the floor of the room (I’ve just moved) so finding them proved impossible and I had to go with these metallic ones instead that I did manage to find.  Working with limited supplies (basically stuff I’ve ordered since I moved so not in the craft room pile up) does test the creativity but I am still pretty happy with how this card came out.
