…find somebody whose life has given them vodka…

Sharing a quick CAS card I did up for a friend’s birthday featuring stamps from the Lemon Zest set by Stampin’ Up! and the matching punch.

I went with my zesty theme after seeing the colour palette at Color Throwdown.  Stampin’ Up! had the perfect colours in their cardstock and I triple matted in the three palette colours and cut thin strips to create my stripy borders.  These follow the current sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch.

I bought the Lemon Zest bundle so I used the matching Lemon Builder punch to cut out my lemon and the leaves and used clear embossing powder over the coloured ink to give them a lovely, lemon rindy texture.  I masked off part of the sentiment from the Lemon Zest set to add the ‘with zest’ to the lemon.  The ‘birthday’ of my sentiment came from a retired Stampin’ Up! set and I hand wrote the rest of the sentiment with a Distress marker.

I popped the lemon and leaves up with foam dots to add dimension.  Once I was done I thought it still needed something and the current challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks provided the answer in the way of sequins.  I have some lovely yellow sequins that would have been perfect for this but my craft room is literally on the floor of the room (I’ve just moved) so finding them proved impossible and I had to go with these metallic ones instead that I did manage to find.  Working with limited supplies (basically stuff I’ve ordered since I moved so not in the craft room pile up) does test the creativity but I am still pretty happy with how this card came out.

I’m twelve. But I’ve been twelve for a long time.

I’m sharing a card today I made with Club Kid from KennyK Stamps as a birthday card for my niece.

My card has been constructed based on inspiration from various challenges.  I’m not great with layouts or colours so I always go searching for sketch and colour challenges once I’ve selected my image.  For this card, my layout follows the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, it’s been a year of CAS for me and when crafting with limited time CAS is just perfect.  To keep my card CAS I’ve used minimal layers and instead provided interest with various mediums.

The inspiration over at Inkspirational really helped to add that interest; they’re looking for CAS with sparkle cards.  When I saw that theme I decided to add the circle element with embossing powder and the rectangular element with some sparkly epoxy stickers and gems.  As this is going out to a tween I wanted something a bit fancier than your regular CAS card and the added bit of sparkle was just perfect.

I’ve taken colour inspiration for my card from Color Throwdown, which offered a fun set of colours for a tween.  I did add white (a neutral so doesn’t count) and skin and hair colours on my image (which hopefully will be overlooked).  I think the three inspirational elements worked well together to create a great tween card.

The pansy this, O, that’s for lover’s thoughts

My card today features the pretty Girl with Pansy from Aurora Wings.

To help me embellish my card I’ve played along with the bingo board at Aud Sentiments, I actually used two lines in the end, the centre horizontal (Ribbon or lace, Rubber stamp or digi, Flowers) and the right vertical (Pattern paper, Flowers, Die cut).  I’ve stamped my sentiment on one of the die cut tags I made using a rubber stamp from Stampin’ Up!

Over at Brown Sugar they are looking for tags on your project or as your project, as I have two tags on my card I am entering my card in the challenge.  I had originally coloured the pearls on the image but wasn’t overly happy with my colour choice so decided to give them a 3D effect with some BoBunny Pearlescent.  Can’t say I was happy with the result, so I gave up on the stuff and got out my hot fix crystals and filled in the rest with them.  I also added a row of flat back pearls over my ruffle ribbon as some extra embellishment.  With all my pearls and gems I am also entering my card in the current challenge at Craft Rocket.

I’m a damsel, I’m in distress, I can handle this

My card today features Megara Honey from Sassy Design Studios and has been made for the current challenge at Colouring in Scrapland, where I have the pleasure of being a guest DT.

The theme is inspired by a movie and their sponsor is Sassy Design Studios.  I’ve gone with Disney’s Hercules.  I really want the Tim Holtz Paper Mosaic Kit but don’t have it yet so I had to improvise for my Grecian inspired background.  I printed my background using the tile texture in Photoshop and then used the printed ‘grout’ line as my cutting lines.  I used white modelling paste for grout, which dries really fast so I had to work in very small sections.  When I was finished I covered my ‘tiles’ in Diamond Glaze.  I have to say I am really happy with how it turned out.

Here is a close up of the image and mosaic.

Inspired by the Grecian urns in the movie, I found a die in my collection that had the right pattern and cut my circles.  I went for a circle easel card to create a bit of a theatrical background for my image, a nod to the movie inspiration.  For my embellies I used some Tim Holtz Idea-ology Boxwood Twine as a proxy for the laurel leaves the gods wear and painted my flowers blue to match the background, which features a scene from the actual movie.

As I have a white frame and background to my base (bit hard to tell in the photo that has come up a bit yellow), I am entering my card in the current just add W challenge at Just Add Ink.  With my very circular shape I am also entering my card in the current challenge at C.R.A.F.T.  Over at Moving Along With the Times they are looking for leaves on projects, I have those with my Boxwood Twine so I am also linking my card up there.
