Sharing a fun
card featuring Morag the Moo (love that name!) from Dr Digi’s House of Stamps.
This card was
inspired by the current theme at the Alphabet Challenge, ‘C is for Cows’. I’ve needed an excuse to colour up this cute
bovine and this challenge along with the birthday of a friend who makes potato
stamps of Aussie bugs to decorate Christmas cards were it. I’ve coloured Morag in water colours and
fussy cut her before popping her onto the scene I created on the front of the
card. And, yep, that’s a swarm of blowies
off to the side!
Some grass and
flower border die cuts and Morag had something to munch on under the sun I pieced
together from a La-La Land die using essentially the negative pieces. Aleene’s True Snow works a treat for fluffy
clouds, more die cuts, which I used to cover the straight edge of my sun.
Between my bovine
friend with her shock of long hair and flying pests I am thinking I’ve gone
pretty wild on this card. I might also
go for a more offbeat interpretation of that prompt with my sentiment where I’ve
let my imagination go wild with all the various things that can be said so succinctly
in cow! So I’m entering it in the current challenge at
Time Out.
This card is also
a twisted easel to enable me to play along at Crafting with Dragonflies. Haven’t done one of these for a while and it
was fun.
To prop up my easel I created a
sign for a cattle station by colouring Morag again in all black, scanning her
back in and flipping her before squeezing the station name ‘MOO’ between the
two. I wasn’t up for fussy cutting any
of this and my Silhouette isn’t even set up on my new computer so I opted for a
wooden rather than black metal sign and printed this up, including the
interpretation into English of the cowlish ‘moo’, on a piece of woodgrain
cardstock, which I then inked up in lovely brown distress inks. Tim is so right, you can never have too many
browns!
I added in some Tim Hex
Fasteners for the nails on the sign and finished off with a cow bell. Well, OK, so Tim doesn’t have any cow bells
and I didn’t have any in my stash either so I repurposed one of his Christmas
bells. I was going to try and flatten it
with a hammer until I spoke to a crafty friend who suggested the safer option
of running it through my die cutting machine and it worked a treat.
