…let us not ask where it leads

Sharing a quick and simple card I made using stamps from a set by Unity Stamp Company called Let Adventure.

A colleague is leaving at work and I thought the symbolism of the butterfly and the sentiment made for a good farewell card as she is embarking on a new role with more responsibility at another organisation.  I’ve followed the sketch over at AAA Cards for this, I stamped the circle element last after embossing and masking the butterfly.  I guess I could have just swapped out the circle element for the butterfly but I also wanted to play at CAS Colours &Sketches and layering up my stamping helped me get the colours in.  I stamped in Night of Navy and an Altenew purple as my Gorgeous Grape stampin’ pad is still in the mail.  To add my final colour of Crushed Curry I matted my watercolour paper on a piece of Stampin' Up! cardstock in Crushed Curry.

Over at Little Red Wagon they’re asking you to get back to basics, which I’ve done by keeping this very basic.  If I hadn’t done my matting I could have done this up as a one-layer card as I’ve just layered my stamping with no other layers.  Have to say I am yet to do this, I still love the weight of the extra layers, it’s one of the things I find most satisfying about handmade cards.  That and the thin colour border is always a simple way to add a touch of elegance to a card.
