…I hesitate to pluck…

Sharing a pretty CAS card I made for friend’s birthday featuring the Peony with Leaves stamp from Paper Rose Studio.

To make up my card I started with the layout using the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch, which I flipped.  I decided to go with some flowing organic lines rather than straight ones so cut my top layer of cardstock with one of the dies in my new Mama Elephant Borderlines Trio set.  To create the stripe element, I stuck some washi tape to a bit of scrap cardstock and die cut it twice with the same die.  I used washi tape so I could play along in the current challenge at CAS on Friday.

I stamped my image onto watercolour paper and heat embossed it in silver and then coloured it up in shades of pink to match the designer paper on my card.  I fussy cut the image and popped it up on some foam squares for a touch of dimension.  To finish off I added a trio of silver sequins.

As I’ve kept my card CAS, I’m also entering it over at Creative Friday for their current clean and simple challenge.

…holds one in its net of wonder forever

Sharing a CAS card featuring the sweet Water World image from A Day for Daisies.

I needed a card for a colleague’s birthday and wasn’t really sure what I was going to do for it so looked around at some challenges for inspiration.  The fantasy theme over at Happy Little Stampers for their CAS challenge got me thinking about this new image I got from A Day for Daisies of the pretty mermaid.

To make up my card I’ve used the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I made the square element bigger and shrunk the any shape element.  For the small rectangular element, I added a chippie from Make it Crafty, which I covered in loads of embossing powder.  Rummaged through my embellie drawer and found this old Prima resin shell that worked well for the any shape element.

For a bit of added interest, I thought I’d play along at The Paper Girls and turn the square element into a shaker.  But then thought rather than try and fussy cut the image to add over the top I would print her on some vellum and heat emboss.  I then water coloured the mermaid with Distress Inks before adding in some Little Things from Lucy’s Cards’ sequins and backed with some wave designer paper.  Love how the vellum creates a really soft and subtle shaker and makes the whole thing look a bit underwater.

The snow did not even whisper its way to earth…

Sharing my first, and possible only, Christmas card for the year featuring some of the cute stamps from the Holiday Village set by Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps.

I needed to make up this card as it has to get over to Japan before I am uber late again.  And by uber late I mean this one will be going over with last year’s in the same box!  Have been working crazy long hours so bit short of creative ideas but a quick scout around the challenge blogs threw up a wintery theme over at CCC Digi Creations.  Cue my new Holiday Village stamps from Kraftin’ Kimmie and I had my idea.

I created a little water coloured scene with several of the stamps from the set including both trees, the village hall (think it’s a hall it has a clock on its front), picket fence, mailbox, Santa and his reindeer and street light.  I also used one of the sentiments from the set.

At Simply Create Too they’re looking for cards with more than one fold, so I decided to make a gatefold card to enter.  To make it a bit more interesting I did the folds vertical and cut the top of the larger bottom section using my new Snow Capped Mountain die from Mama Elephant.

I wanted to play along at Sparkles Christmas as well so have lots of heat embossing on my card.  My sentiment is heat embossed in the same gold I added a border to the bottom layer of my card with.  The snow capping on the mountains as well as the snow on the ground are also heat embossed, with some lovely sparkly glittery embossing powder.  I also added a layer of clear embossing powder over my silhouette of Santa and his reindeer to deepen the black.
