…the perpetual adhibition of artificial heat

Sharing a QCAS card featuring the wine glass stamp from Tim Holtz’s Wine Blueprint set.

For this card I used the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch for the layout.  It teamed perfectly with the off the edge stamping challenge at Back to Basics, which I did by simply cutting my circle die cut off to give me the straight edge I needed for the layout and removed some of stamped image.

I wasn’t sure how to add in the long rectangular element in the sketch but over at CAS on Friday they’re looking for some stencilling on your project so thought that would be perfect.  I used one of Tim’s stencils with some embossing ink and then added in his Aged Mahogany Distress Embossing Powder.  This tied nicely in with the wine colouring (also Aged Mahogany but with a touch of Seedless Preserves).  A matching chippie sentiment from Make it Crafty, a mat in some appropriately wine-coloured cardstock and my card was complete.

…when the soft fragrance of magnolias hung in the air…

Sharing a CAS card featuring the large magnolia stamp from the Good Morning Magnolia set by Stampin’ Up!.

Over at AAA Cards they are asking you to use one image with the option of going positive.  My card features the one large image and the uplifting sentiment of ‘Thinking of you’, from the same Stampin’ Up! set.  I always think a handmade card that comes in the mail just because someone is thinking of you is like a hug in an envelope and can’t help but make the recipient feel more positive about themselves and life because they know someone cares and is thinking about them.

My colours are from the pretty palette at Just Us Girls.  The two pinks the perfect colouring for my magnolia, I do love the pink variety.  Although I’ve realised now I’ve stuck the whole thing down that my cardstocks are the wrong colour family for my inks ~ duh!

Although I like to keep my cards CAS, I have scattered a few tiny pearls around my magnolia so I could also play along at Fab ’n’ Funky.  At least the pearls match the inks I used, not like those cardstocks.  I’m right down to the wire getting this card in, nothing like a bit of weekday speed crafting to set you up to get through hump day tomorrow!

…liquid quintessence of concentrated sun-beams

Sharing a male birthday card featuring three of the stamps from the Wine Blueprint set by Tim Holtz.

Well, part of three of the stamps because I’m playing along at Less is More, where they want to see small images.  Small being defined at less than 2".  Not sure if cropping down larger ones counts but that’s what I did and I really love how it turned out.  The middle circle is 2", the others are slightly smaller.  Each of the stamps were stamped in Antique Linen, except the wine glass, I did that in Tumbled Glass, and then water coloured in more Distress Inks.  A touch of white pencil for some highlights and I’ve got to admit these are my fav water colourings of all time.

For the layout of my card I’ve followed the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, it gave me those fab circles to play with and fit my small images into.  It also went really well with the inspiration photo over at Time Out.  I’ve taken the colours from there too and the old wood in the small bits of designer paper.  Picking up the colouring of the signs in the picture I coloured my Make it Crafty chippie in Tumbled Glass and mounted it on its shadow coloured in black.

Now male cards aren’t always that easy to do but Tim sure does help with his stamps.  This is going out to my manager who is a wine lover so hopefully it will go down well.  Have to say, even if it is masculine in feel, I love the old ship rustic look of it, even if I’m no wine fan myself!
