…as a blank space or as an entity unto itself is a purely metaphysical question…

Sharing a fun shaker card featuring a NBUS stamp, Mochi Donut Girl, from Stamping Bella.

I’m really wishing now I’d bought some of those sprinkle shaker elements but I didn’t so had to go with plain old sequins on my shaker.  I made the background for it using alcohol inks, was trying to go for a donut dough colour for the sequins to then be the sprinkles on top.  Made the frame using a Lawn Fawn scallop die for a bit more of a fun shape.  I’m shaking this card up so I could play along at Inkspirational, with a pretty literal interpretation of their cue word, which, you guessed it, is shake.

And I’ve gone with Donut Girl because she is eyeing off that awesome plate of donuts and donuts are really yummy.  But yummy or not, they’re food and that’s what they want to see at My Time To Craft.

My layout is also from a challenge, this time Fab Friday, a new sketch challenge discovery.  Love sketches so I’ve got them bookmarked that’s for sure.  I didn’t add in the sentiment element but rather subbed my image for the banner but was inspired by the ribbon element to raid my embellie stash and tie up a fun knot using some Mizuhiki paper cords.

…vainly pray the shaft may be removed

Sharing a card made with another beautiful peony stamp, this one from Studio Katia called BloomingBunch.

My card layout follows the sketch at Sunday Stamps.  I’ve used my flowers as the circular element and stencilled in the rectangular strip.  I did this so I could also play along at CAS Stencil using two different stencils as their challenge is for layered stencilling.  I inked in the first layer with Distress Inks and then added in my butterflies with metallic water colours.

I stamped my sentiment, from a retired Stampin’ Up! set, in the same Spun Sugar Distress Ink I used on the flowers then doused it in clear embossing powder to give it a little texture.  Finished off with some layered matting in colours to match the stamped and stencilled elements.  Loving all the soft colours on this one and those peonies, I think I’m a little obsessed with them given how many different peony stamps I own!

Over at Stamping Sensations they have a flower challenge going on so I am also linking up my card over there.  Hoping these pretty flowers bring a little comfort to the recipient who lost her partner very suddenly last week from a stroke.

…the balm and life-blood of the soul…

Sharing a card made with the very pretty Friendship Blooms a stamp collaboration from Gina K Designs & Hero Arts.

I chose the colours for my card based on the optional colour palette at All Fun Challenges.  The pinks and purples were so pretty and I think suited the lovely peony blooms really well.  I flicked a bit of gold over my water coloured blooms before colouring up one of the fab Make it Crafty chippies in the same gold.

I went with the sentiment of ‘Sending a big hug’ as this is going out to a crafty friend who has just had her second round of surgery to remove a brain tumour.  Over at Gina K they are challenging us to send encouragement cards to our friends and that’s what this card is.  So I could play along I have also decorated my envelope, I just stamped the image and did it up in gold embossing powder.  My envelope was thin and, as I put the image right on the corner, I couldn’t get my magnets to hold fully so I got a ghost impression as the envelope lifted and shifted when I lifted the stamp to reink.  C’est la vie, although I don’t think the double image looks all that bad.

At Sweet Stampin’ they’re looking for bright and beautiful makes.  My pretty pinks and purples are quite bright and I certainly think my card is beautiful so I’m also linking up there.

Hoping this helps bring a smile to my friend’s face.  Going through this sort of thing is hard at the best of times but when your family isn’t allowed to come visit thanks to social distancing it’s so much harder.  But, as crafters, we can always send hugs in a card and if you do, why not link it up over at our monthly challenge at Bizzy Becs.  Our theme is always anything goes and you could win five digi stamps.
