…you do not gather the beauty of the flower

I’m sharing the matching box to my previous post’s card, again featuring the beautiful Delicate Wings die from Sizzix.

For the box I used a pattern from Nicole’s Stamp Addiction.  Nicole does the most amazing patterns for the Silhouette, this one was super quick and easy to put together.  Once the base box was done I had some fun embellishing to match the card.

Over at Studio 75 they have a fun bingo board, which I used to help embellish my box.  I was already going to use flowery paper, as that was requested by the person who commissioned this set.  A search through my chippie stash turned up the pieces that looked a bit like flames (I think they were branches actually) and a bit of distress ink helped with the effect.  That left me pearls for the row so I added these over the small holes in the box overlay.  I actually made the box first so carried over the chippie and pearls to the card to help them match.

The current theme at Moving Along with the Times is birds and feathers so I am also entering my box there.  At Shopping Our Stash they have a rose challenge happening.  The roses on my box have languished in my stash for a while now; I went CAS last year and haven’t been using flowers much at all but was good to get some out and on a project again.

By plucking her petals…

I’m sharing a card commissioned by a colleague for her niece’s confirmation, featuring the lovely Delicate Wings die from Sizzix.

Over at Fussy and Fancy they are looking for fancy fold cards so I decided to make a twisted easel card.  I wanted some way to make the dove die cut look like it was flying and the twisted easel provided the perfect base.

The symbol for a confirmation is a dove coming out of flames.  Rather than doing a flat image for the flames I made them out of flowers.  I took a gazillion I Am Roses roses and rose buds and a few cherry blossoms and coloured them with my Copics in shades of red, pink, orange and yellow.  I added in some dark red rose hips and twigs to give some extra shape.  With all of the I Am Roses flowers I am entering my card in their current challenge.

At Open Minded Crafting their current theme is Angels in April.  My card doesn’t feature any angels but it does meet the faith based option, steeped as it is in Catholic symbolism and featuring a sentiment appropriate for the rite of confirmation.

I haven’t done a fully loaded fussy and fancy card in a long time and haven’t had my flower box open for so long the poor things were nearly needing a good dusting!  And while I am still loving my CAS cards it was a lot of fun doing up this one and I am very pleased with how it turned out.
