Little engines can do big things

I’ve a card featuring a cute Tiddly Inks’ image, The Conductor, to share today.

This is for my nephew who turned six this week and I’ve made it following the current sketch at Die Sketchtanten.  To go with my train theme I used some Tim Holtz Journaling Tickets for one of the layers and selected my papers to represent the red check hankie train drivers have in the movies and grey stripes to represent train tracks.

Over at Fab’n’Funky they are looking for cards featuring kids at play, which my image certainly shows, so I am linking up my card there.  Southern Girls have stripes as their theme, I have them aplenty, in my designer paper, my flair button embellie and drawn on my image for the little boy’s outfit.

You’re in the arms of the angel…

I have a sympathy card to share today featuring So Long Yesterday from Ching-Chou Kuik.

I made the card base following the patterns at Noor! Design as I wanted something special given the reason for this card.  As I have used a special card form I am entering it in the current challenge at Hanna and Friends.

I couldn’t find an angel image I liked in my collection or through a Google search but thought the lovely image from Ching-Chou Kuik worked well for a sympathy card.  To make her into an angel I cut some wings from a LaLa Land die.  I also added some metal angel wing charms, which I softened with Picket Fence Distress Paint and PanPastels, to give them a shimmery effect I spritzed with my favourite Perfect Pearls Mist.  As my card features angels I am entering it in the current challenge at Deep Ocean.

My image is teamed with a sentiment from Close To My Heart that I’ve stamped in Victorian Velvet Distress Ink to tie in with the pink theme.  With stamping and a sentiment I am also entering my card at Sweet Stampin’.  The sides of the card looked a bit bare so I added in some pearl swirls and echoed these with some pearls on my centre panel.  Pearls are the current theme at Crafty Friends so I’m linking my card up there too.

…or a kick-ass red lipstick

I’ve a very feminine card to share today made for a very girlie girl friend of mine featuring Makeup Time by Saturated Canary.

My card follows the current sketch at Friday Sketch.  I had to add in the extra embellies on the top of the circle element as my die cut all the way through a few of the lacy bits, as I’d printed my digi I wasn’t going to waste the X-Press It paper so figured I’d just cover it up instead.

I wasn’t really sure how I wanted to decorate my card so I looked over some challenges, I actually decided on the House of Cards and Brown Sugar ones first and then found a sketch that would suit.  At House of Cards they are looking for either texture or to use the colour inspiration.  I went with texture as I wanted to go with shades of blue.  I’ve added my texture using modelling paste, which I’ve tinted with some Tim Holtz Distress Paint in China Blue, and a pretty damask stencil.  In my usual style I’ve spent a whole lot of time on my background only to cover most of it up!  I also chose to use lace for the border element to add more texture and created the horizontal border with flowers and pearls rather than a flat ribbon.  I also have texture as the background to my digi with some Fran-tage, which is beautifully glittery and tactile.

I’ve used the same paint to colour up my flowers and then spritzed them with Perfect Pearls Mist in Perfect Pearls.  I am loving this to add shimmer to my embellies!

With all these lush and feminine elements the style of card could be nothing other than shabby chic, which is the Brown Sugar theme; the perfect style for my friend.  Love using brown and blues together in shabby chic, although I suspect I should have started with a less busy design of Maja papers but overall I am very happy with the result.

…what’s left to create the illusion?

My card today is a bit of a cheeky one featuring Pinup 2 from SLS Lines.

So I’ve gotten into a bit of a groove making cards for the Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers’ challenges and I am loving playing along.  I’d stalked their challenges for some time and after doing an F is for Fart card, well, how could I go past a B is for Boobs challenge?  While Edna’s motivation was noble (breast cancer awareness) I thought I’d go snarky, seeing I didn’t manage a snarky Steampunk effort for the last challenge.  I figured I had to start with an image that actually had boobs so there was some chance of ‘getting lucky’ and had seen someone art journal with this image so off I went to get her.

This is what you find when you scratch the Christmas trees off.

I drew in the bra (luckily my drawing skills extend that far) with my Copics and then followed a tut I bookmarked an eon ago to make the scratch panel.  I ummed and ahhed about what to write on the bra so went hunting through challenge sites, as I do when I need inspiration.  I knew I was going to go fairly CAS for this card and so started with the CAS challenge sites I follow and came up trumps with Addicted to CAS where their current code word is dream, voilà, I had my first bit of snarkiness.

To get the full snarky impact you have to look inside the card.

Over at Incy Wincy they are looking for pinups on projects, my image is definitely that, so I am entering my card over there.
