I can't stand it! I gotta have a bird!

I realised today I had missed a colleague’s birthday at the end of last year so had to whip up a quick card; cue the Crazy Birds from Tim Holtz.

To make up my card I went looking for a sketch and liked the one from Always Playing with Paper but wasn’t really sure what to do with it that would look good but also be done quickly.  Then I saw the challenge over at Cards und More was to do a one layer card, which got the creativity flowing and I thought about adding the elements with various different techniques.  Throw in the Incy Wincy Designs’ challenge theme of white with a splash of colour and it then became about texture and interest without the colour.

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to go back and redo things to ensure perfection but this year I have challenged myself be happy with imperfection.  So we won’t mention the imperfect bits but instead focus on the techniques.  The rectangle element is Tim's Nordic stamp in white embossing powder that is meant to have a hint of blue.  The circular element was created from a stencil and clear gel medium.  The rest was layered stamping with my bird and the present taking the place of the stars in the sketch.  They were also the splash of colour.

All in all I am quite pleased with how this turned especially given the very limited time it took to produce.  Loving the Crazy Birds for male cards and already loving the way my creativity is being challenged at the start of this year.
