The card I’m
sharing today features an image from Sheep Ski Designs called Becca.
The layout of my card follows the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch, which I’ve flipped. My image is taking the place of the small trapezium element. For some added interest I have cut a second parasol and popped it up on foam squares.
I picked my image first and then my sketch so decided I wanted to incorporate a background with cherry blossoms to fit with the image. How I was going to add that background I wasn’t too sure until I saw that Edna was looking for embossed projects over at Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers. And because, as Edna says herself, E is or embossing and Edna, I decided I needed to have both dry and wet embossing on my card. I have an enormous embossing folder collection but happened to get lucky and stumbled on the fab cherry blossom embossing folder I used in my die box when I was putting a die sheet away.
Wanting to keep this card CAS, which is the current theme over at C.R.A.F.T. Challenge, I decided to add some interest to the dry embossing by colouring the raised design with my Twinkling H2Os. I used the same shimmery cardstock to do the second background element, this time using wet embossing and a white embossing powder over the white cardstock, using my embossing ink through a stencil. Matting both elements on the same pink cardstock as my card base helped them stand out from the white background.
While my card is clean and simple I also think it is elegant too. Something I love about a CAS card, you can make them a bit playful and fun with the right image (think Tim’s crazy birds) or sophisticated and elegant with an image such as this one, especially with a bit of gold foiling as an accent over the water colouring (which has shown up black in the photo!).
