…there was in me an invincible summer

Sharing a CAS but elegant card featuring the beautiful Uptown Zodiac Girl Virgo stamp from Stamping Bella.

This card is for my niece who turned 18 earlier this week and is therefore a Virgo.  I didn’t have any suitable number stamps to match the pretty image so went with a cursive sentiment from the New Wonders set from Stampin’ Up!.

The layout of my card follows the sketch over at Sunday Stamps.  I placed my image in the middle of the circular element, which I created with splattered paint so I could play along at TGIF for their technique challenge.  I scattered some gems among the splatters as the current theme at Crafty Friends is to add embellishments.

Usually I have difficulty choosing colours but for this card it was easy.  I went with the yellowy green for the dress, gems and my mat as the peridot is the August birthstone.  I’ve coloured up the flowers in Virgo’s hair as yellow poppies as one of the August flowers is the poppy.  Although the card is fairly CAS, I am super happy with how it turned out, way happier than I am at the thought of having an 18-year-old niece, where the chubby, gurgling little baby I swear she was only last week went I have no idea!

Go, grease lightnin’

Sharing a CAS card featuring one of the uber cool guys from the Rocker Boys by C.C. Designs.

I picked this particular stamp so I could play along at AAA Cards rocking the twist of inspired by a song.  Hopefully it’s fairly obvious the song I picked was Greased Lightning even if I changed up Danny’s hair colour to a much lighter brown to fit the recipient of this card.

The current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch fit perfectly with the along the edge non-twist theme at AAA Cards.  My image subbing for the star element in the sketch with the subtle sentiment coming from the same set as the cool dude.

Over at Less is More they want to see stencils on a one layer card.  I’ve added in the rectangular element in the sketch using a tread stencil from Tim to keep with the Greased Lightning theme I’ve got going.  It’s red as the original movie poster had the title within a red car.  And would you look at that masking, actually got it working this time round so I could do this all on one layer of lovely thick water colour paper I picked up at Paperific over the weekend.
