Mark the transient butterfly...

I’ve gone a bit distressed and a bit grunge with today’s card featuring the elegant Steampunk Kay from Simply B Stamps’ Steampunk DT Gals collection.

I love the contrast between the distressing and the corroded background and embellies and the pretty image.  There’s a lot going on with this card but that’s partly because the sketch I followed from Cardabilities had a lot going on.  I haven’t decided if I should have enlarged the tab file elements or not, I could have as I didn’t have a die so cut them by hand.

The awesome rusty corrugated iron background paper just had to be distressed and that led me to having to rust my metal cog and wooden butterfly, which I did with some rusting powder from Twiddleybitz.  There was no way I was going to be able to distress into the corners of the tab files so I settled for designer paper that looked a bit shabby.  I backed my cog hessian trim with another hessian trim that had frayed bits on the side to add more shabbiness to the whole card.  I’m always a bit unsure about the whole shabby style but between all my elements I think I meet the distressed or shabby part of the current Paper Crafting Journey challenge and my image is a bit vintage so might have that part covered too.

The sketch had butterfly embellies so that’s what I went with too, just Steampunk ones.  I’ve also got gears galore and metal bits and pieces and a Steampunk image so I’m also entering this in the current challenge at PunkyouGirl.

And while we’re talking Steampunk, why not join in on our challenge over at Simply Steampunk Challenges, it’s wings / grunge it up.  As you can see I’ve got that theme covered with my card and my grunged up butterfly.  You can use any Steampunk image, although we’d love to see a Simply B Stamps’ one, and have until 2 February.

Phighting for a Cure

Welcome to the Phun 4 Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness blog hop, hopefully you came here via the gorgeous Lisa’s blog, if not and you are just passing by my blog, please see the blog hop list below.  I was honoured to be asked to be part of this hop and to be able to make a card that will go to someone living with this disease.  My card features an awesome image, PHun Butterfly, that Betty of Simply B Stamps drew especially for the occasion.

Did you know, while there are now 11 FDA approved medicines to treat pulmonary hypertension, zero are approved for use in children with PH.  You can also find out more information about PH from the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.

Now Betty isn’t the only artist to have generously provided her support, Tamara of the Stamping Chef has also drawn an image, Pucker Up, and there will be another blog hop tomorrow starting at the Stamping Chef featuring it.  You too can show your support by making a card with one or both of these beautiful images.  Instructions for getting the image is below, you will also need the answer to this question “How many treatments are FDA approved for children with PH?"

There’s also a challenge going on, link up your project here by Saturday 16 November (the US 16th) to be in the running for a Teresa Collins Stamp Maker.  Winners will be announced at the Paper Moments blog on Saturday 23 November.  Remember to use periwinkle on your card.

Now head on over to the delightful Veronica’s blog and don’t forget to leave some love at all the blogs as there will be a prize for one lucky person drawn by random.org.

Muchier

There’s an awesome new release at Simply B Stamps featuring my all time favourite, Alice in Wonderland.  The images in this collection are drawn by Abigail Larson and therefore are Steampunk inspired.  And here for your viewing pleasure is Alice herself.

As with all my release day images I’ve done up a mini Kraft page to go inside my Steampunk box.  This one follows the current sketch at Cardabilities and uses the Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells paper range.  To keep it Steampunking I’ve added some gears, both crafty and real, and where would an Alice image be without a clock.  I’m late, I’m late…fortunately not with this post or Miss Corinne would get out her pins!

There’s a Tic Tac Toe challenge over at SanDee&amelie’s and I’ve used the right-hand column, clock, gears, ribbon on my album page.  And with my bow and ribbon I’m also entering this at the current Allsorts’ challenge.
