But dying without her vain were life of mine…

The card I’m sharing features a new image from Simply B Stamps, Miller Arabian Knight, that I did up as a Valentine’s card.

To make up my card I followed the current sketch over at Feeling Sketchy.  I’m trying to keep to my resolution of using my dies more (OK for some just using them for the first time!) so swapped out the thin element for a lovely swirly heart die.  I added a plain clay heart in the centre of the die cut heart for some added interest and depth.  I did leave out the bow element as I couldn’t really think of something that would suit my image and I figured the swirly die was enough embellishment.

Over at Country View Challenges they are running a drips and drops challenge and one of the DT, Brenda of Bumblebees and Butterflies, did an awesome project up with a fab background I just loved.  So I hopped on over to her blog and used her technique of an acrylic block, Distress Ink and water to create mine.  I ended up with a bit of white space so I grabbed a Distress Stain and spritzed it over.  Brenda had a few more elements to her background but I was sure I’d bugger it all up if I tried to do any more so just stuck with this simple two steps and I must say I am very happy with the result.

As I have a couple of hearts on this I am also entering it in the current challenge over at Die Basteltanten.

Five, six, pick up sticks

My double layout from my baby book today features the adorable Noor from Lacy Sunshine.

Little Noor was a freebie recently and was drawn up by Heather to celebrate the birthday of a little girl whose mother runs a crafty shop.  Although Noor is supposed to be two I’ve done this layout up ready for a photo from baby’s first birthday.  As I’ve used little Noor I am entering this in the challenge at Noor Designs.

The layout is from the current sketch at Sketchabilities and allowed me to use up some of the scraps from the other pages.  There was lots of space in the sketch so I’ve used a stencil with a row of butterflies to fill it, this is the same stencil I used on the cover so it ties in nicely with that.  With my stencilling I am also entering this at Country View’s current challenge.

I’ll have the last two pages done up over the next couple of days and you can see the cover from this book at this post, the first page here, the last page here, a double layout at this post and another double layout here.

It may be regarded as a spiritual tourniquet

There’s a super cute new Teen Scene collection at Simply B Stamps, Baby Teens, and this image is the adorable Blankie Chris.

I’ve been practicing my pleat colouring and I am really happy with how Chris’ blankie turned out.  The jimmie jammies not so much but then the yellows I used seem almost identical from 02 to 08 so it’s hard to see the shading on them.

A Creative Romance is celebrating their birthday so they have ‘Happy Birthday’ as their optional theme, I’ve got that covered and the anything goes part too so I’m entering my card there.  I can’t go past my stamps on cards and I’ve clearly got one on this so I’m also entering this at the current Crafts Galore Encore challenge.

Country View have a men only challenge going, not sure if this quite qualifies, it certainly is for a male but a rather little man.  Ain’t he a cutie though?

There’s a whole lot more gorgeous images in this new Baby Teens collection and you can check out what the rest of the DT have done with them by heading over to the SBS blog or going direct to their blogs, I have them listed at the bottom of this post.  Stay tuned too as I have lots more projects with this collection popping up on my blog over the next half hour.

Sure to taste sweetly,—is that poison, too?

I have another CAS Valentine card featuring an Emo Valentine collection image from the vaults of Simply B Stamps, Candy Hoggin’ London.

I’ve stuck with my monochromatic Valentine’s although again with the splash of red for a bit of added interest.  Hopefully this doesn’t disqualify me from the current monochromatic challenge at Country View Challenges.

To make up my card I’ve followed the current sketch at Feeling Sketchy.  I used a die from Marianne Designs for the ribbon and bow element.

Don’t forget our challenge at Simply Challenged Challenges too, you can use any image but we sure love to see the SBS ones, it’s anything New Year’s related.
