Dia De Los Muertos

There’s an awesome new release over at Simply B Stamps to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos in true Betty style and, being a Betty style celebration there are also some fun challenges.

Introducing first Dia De Los Muertos Betty, isn’t she simply gorgeous?

With this beautiful image your challenge is to do funky coloured streaks for her hair.  So get out your favourite hair colours and then go nuts with some funky streaks!

The second new release is Lenore Forevermore, a stunner with long hair.

If you’re using this lovely image then you need to get your sunglasses out as you’re going to be going neon colours.  Yep, the brighter the better.

Of course, Betty has been celebrating Dia De Los Muertos for years so there are other images from the vaults of Simply B Stamps and I’ve got the pretty Sugar Skull Trish on another card.

So if you want to use an older SBS image you can and for this challenge it’s anything goes, just make sure you use one of the Dia De Los Muertos images over in the SBS store (here’s a list for you Annierexia, Day of the Dead Alex, Sugar Skull Betty and Sugar Skull Trish)

Of course we’re hopping to help celebrate Dia De Los Muertos, so you should have come here from the awesome Mei’s blog.  If not, head back to the SBS blog to start from the beginning.  If you are on track then your next stop is the talented Miss Lisa’s blog.

Usted estará conmigo para siempre

I have another Day of the Dead card, this one featuring Lenore Forevermore from Simply B Stamps.

This one was more difficult as she didn’t have her face decorated so I had to add that in myself, which I did after I coloured her up so the pressure was really on.  I think it turned out OK but next time I think I will make a template for myself and definitely add that detail in first.

With such a beautiful image I wanted a fairly CAS card and the Week 3 sketch at Viva La Verve was just right although not sure I’ve altered it too much with the added element of the image.  I liked the scattered circle elements as they gave me the perfect placement for my sugar skull stickers, they sort of pick up the grey from the inspiration image.  I didn’t have any other in my stash so had to go with these.  I also used the pink from the photo on the image but teamed it with some lime green and a little yellow as the Day of the Dead images all seem to be multi-coloured.

Although my card is somewhat CAS it still has lots of layers, which I love.  I even layered lace on ribbon for the curved element.  With all my layers I am entering my card in the current challenge at Craft Hoarders’ Anonymous.

As You Like It is currently asking which style you prefer cute or elegant.  I have to say I think my preference is elegant although I do tend to try all styles and people have said my style is rather grungy.  I don’t think there’s anything grungy about this card, the image was beautifully elegant and I’ve followed that through with my CAS layout and embellies so for me, definitely, it is elegant.  Why elegant?  Because I love beautiful embellies, dies like this elegant frame, images of women with gorgeous hair like Lenore Forevermore and because my all time favourite movie star is the queen of elegance herself, Audrey Hepburn.
