The highest form of research is essentially play

Sharing a fun card made for a nephew’s birthday featuring Science from Polkadoodles.

To make up my card I’ve used the sketch at Sunday Stamps for my layout.  Instead of the large rectangle I coloured up an explosion shape with my Copics then spritzed the whole thing with some Perfect Pearls Mist.  Because of how I created this I couldn’t layer the thin strip under but had to place it on top.  I created my sentiment on the computer and printed it to look like it was written on a blackboard.  I chose my font to look like the whole thing is a rather long formula to match my scientist image.

My image was water coloured and, apart from the glasses, looks like my nephew who does love to play with science kits and concoct things.  As this is going out to my nephew (male and a child) I am linking up my card at both the Allsorts masculine and Fab’n’Funky for a child challenges.

Wing your flight o'er all the earth

It’s sketch challenge time over at Outlawz and my card today features Angel from this month’s sponsor, Polkadoodles.

And here’s this week’s sketch.

As the image I chose was an angel I figured I’d make a Christmas card, something I always leave to the last minute!  It’s hard to tell in the photo but to add some sparkle to the angel I used Twinkling H2O’s and Glamour Dust on her wings.  I wanted the ornament to shine also so I outlined it with a Gold Gelato, the rich colour doesn’t show so well in the photo, and also sprinkled on some white Fran-tage, also difficult to see in the photo.  The lace accents were the perfect shape, they are actually two thirds of the actual piece of lace, I cut out the middle section as it was just too much for the card.  It’s a beautiful lace though and one of the many laces I received as a gift from two special friends while on my big American adventure.

I love my embellies and dug deep into my stash for the ones on my card, I knew I had Christmas themed ones somewhere, just had to find them, including the holly and berry buttons.  I find the shank on the buttons mean they are hard to adhere to a card so I cut them off with pliers so hopefully that doesn’t mean I’ve cut off my chance to enter the current Brown Sugar challenge.

With my Christmas theme and embellies I’m also entering this in the current challenge over at Christmas Cards All Year ’Round.  And, as I am using a Polkadoodles’ image (although a now retired one), I’m also linking this up at Polkadoodles where they also have a Christmas challenge going on.

And the sweet white brow is all of her

This is my second card featuring one of the new Jude at the Circus images from Simply B Stamps; this one is the adorable Cutie Clown Lily.

This image has to be my favourite from this collection, head on over to the SBS blog and check out all the other images the awesome DT have done up.  The sweet sentiment comes with the image, I just used Photoshop to add the shadow to it and change the font colour to pink.

My card layout is from Fussy and Fancy’s current challenge, loving the layers on this one.  Polkadoodles has a sugar and spice challenge going, with all the fairy flossy colours and the sweet girlie image this card does remind me of the rhyme and all the things little girls are made of.

I remember going to the circus as a child and thinking how magical it all seemed with the women in their sparkly costumes on the trapeze and the animals that did tricks.  It was definitely always an experience full of wonder, not to mention the sweet treat of fairy floss!  So I’m also entering this in the current 7Dots Studio challenge, all of the gorgeous designer papers I’ve used on the card  are from their collections.
