I’m diverting from my Halloween theme with today’s project as it’s challenge time over at Simply Steampunk Challenges and for my card I’m featuring this amazing image, Taurus, from the Steampunk Zodiac collection.  And our theme for this month’s challenge?

Yep, you guessed, it’s monochromatic.  It’s your opportunity to showcase your favourite colour and your shading skills but remember, when we say monochromatic we aren’t just talking about in the main part or mostly, we’re going all the way.  That means just the one colour.  Hmm, wonder if my papers disqualify me, guess I was anyway!

I followed the sketch at Sketchbook Saturday to make up my card, which is actually a 5x7 card, the first one in this size I’ve made in a long time.  I’m also linking this card up at the current anything goes challenges at Lady Anne’s and Penny’s Paper-crafty challenges.

Holy Smokes!

I’ve raided the vault again for another awesome Simply B Stamp for my project today, this one is Christian the Dark Hero from the Teen Scene Kids Go to Hollywood collection.

It’s not a Halloween collection but I’m sure there’s many a boy (and even a few men) who’s dressed as Batman for Halloween.  I went for the colours of Batman from the Batman the Brave and the Bold cartoon series (my favourite small screen Batman) so the colours are quite bright.  I’ve juxtaposed those against the more earthy tones of my background papers and then thrown in an orange moon for a bit of twist, rather than the usual white or yellow moon.

I’ve made a little note card to use for a Halloween gift and followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  With my copics used on the image I’ve met the optional twist part of the 7 Kids College Fund challenge so I’m entering this there.  I’m also linking it at the Papertake Weekly challenge although I’ve only got part of the optional twist, this is a Halloween project, just the tag for a treat rather than a treat holder.

Mummies and Spiders and Skulls, Oh My!

It’s officially the start of the 13 Days of Halloween festivities at Simply B Stamps where there are 13 fun challenges posted over October, all with a suitably gruesome Halloween theme.  The first one was to “make your own Creepy Background” and here is my effort featuring one from the vault, Jude Mummified, from the Teen Scene Halloween 2012 collection.

 

I’ve made an ATC, which will go onto a layout in a Halloween album I’m putting together, more on that later in the month.  To do up my background I’ve used some paper tape, distressed some cardstock and stamped on an image from IndigoBlu.  I really like how this turned out, especially how the spider is only just creeping on to the page, pretty nifty placement given it is a rubber stamp (no seeing where the image is located) and I stamped after I distressed.

To make up my ATC I followed the sketch at Feeling Sketchy, I swapped out the chevrons at the bottom for my sentiment sticker.  As this is going to a boy this Halloween I hope it is suitably male enough for the C...is for Challenge current challenge and, as a mummy is a mythical being (at least a walking one is) I’m also linking it up at Cards for Men.
